This is just the start of our new tank thread. It will be an ongoing project for the next few months, as we still need to drill the tank and purchase our live rock and needless to say a few other items (magellan007- we will be adding a wave2k). Lots to do, but here's a few pics of the new tank.

T-5's- We're going to add another 2 x 48" T-5's

Any suggestions or comments are welcome.

Whew, nice tank. What sort of overflw do you plan to use on that one? Or are you going to drill it?

We will be drilling one overflow in each corner, and we're also going to drill for the two return lines. I plan on doing a video when we drill the tank. I just hope we don't end up having to send the video to america's funniest home video's. LOL

oooooooo.. that looks so pretty! that white looks sharp. ;) I'm interested in seeing how you'll aquascape. (and remember it gets a little tricky scaping with the wavemaker; making sure all vents are clear--or blocked, as two of mine are--and you have a nice, even movement of water. Oh! and if you can, I found fish love to ride the current and swim through holes in the rock. The best way--if you don't want to bother with drilling--is to get dry base rock and superglue figurations together. it's really worth it, and it makes great little shelves for frags to grow on, too.

Good luck and can't wait to see more!

Magellan007- Thanks for the advise, I think we'll end up doing pillars for the rockwork. Hopefully we don't block any flow.

D.G.- I wonder why? LOL You should see the tank he put in. That tank weighed a ton! Well, maybe a quarter ton to be exact.

Yep I'm gonna have to agree with Doug on this one that does look familiar... A lot cleaner thou! LOL

Well, we drilled the tank out and painted the back over the weekend. Sorry no drilling video, after we made it to the last hole, we just wanted to get it done. We drilled the holes with a Dremel and diamond coated bit. Anyways, here's some pics.

See Greg, no worries.LOL

Here's the new skimmer. I know a lot of people don't like the CSS's, but I've had great luck with them.

Nice work on the drilling!

Thank you sir. I'm just glad the back glass was not tempered.

Looking really nice. I regret I didn't do that when I had it. Can't wait to see the final product.

I can't wait either!! I'm just glad it didn't break.:eek1:
We still have to cure the live rock and still waiting on the wavemaker.

Magellan007, wave2k is still in transit (currently Memphis). I have a question about the wavemaker, will I have to drill a hole through the center brace to mount the wave2k? I thought I saw yours done that way.

there's no drilling. it just mounts on the back. There's actually a video on their website where Mike shows what you do the moment you get it out of the box from start to finish. It's like, a 2min video. it's super easy.

It's looking fine so far. Keep us updated. Love Kaitlyn's rock ideas. Where was she when I was doing mine?

lol...It was actually spur of the moment, sheryl. I'd received a 10g tank of base rock and dead coral with my tank so the night I was putting in the rock I got out the superglue and went at it! It's really worth it. and you can't even tell it used to be base rock.

Next time you want to do a tank let me know, lol. It's actually never too late to do it if you just set out some rock to dry, glue it, then put it back in.

The new wavemaker's in, "VERY HAPPY"!
Live rock is in and curing. This is the first time I've cured live rock, so any advise would be appreciated.

We're pleased with our liverock order, we requested a particular size and that's what the vendor sent us.

This rock should make great pillars.
