Unleashing the Gyre's True Potential!!!
For the last few weeks, CoralVue have been testing the IceCap Gyre Controller Box. This controller will allow you to control your Gyre (either XF150 or XF130) via most of the well known controllers (YES!!! including the Neptune Apex). The control box allows you to create different speed, pulsing, ramping up and ramping down profiles which can then be scheduled via output configuration.

Another nice feature of the IceCap Gyre Controller is that it will allow you to connect the gyre to a backup battery. The controller will automatically detect when power is out and will reduce the speed of the Gyre to extend it's life.
Be on the lookout for this game-changing accessory from CoralVue late spring/early summer 2015!
No price has been set at this time.

I'm going to need more than what I have now on my new tank. I had planned to go with two Neptune WAV's but I'll need to look into this.

I have been big fan of the gyres since they came out. I am running one in almost every tank I have including a 130 in a 24x24" frag holding tank. They are the most effective mean of water moment on the market by far. I think that the majority of us users will agree to that but the only stone they had left unturned was a control mechanism outside of the standard hardware that comes with the unit. For my prop system this controller suits every need I have pulsing perfectly all day and night. But for my display I wanted more. I really liked the idea of ramping down at night and creating more random flow throughout the day.

As most of you know now, Coralvue has announced the release of their apex control module. I have been testing one out now for a few weeks and its’ exactly what I was looking for: propelling the Gyre even farther ahead than any competing wave device or pump.

The Gyre can now do just about anything we can come up for it to do. Literally, the possibilities are limitless, bound only by your own imagination. The more I play with it the more I love it. I know this hole write up sound more like pitch than a review so here are some specs and info
This is a module that replaces the controller that comes with the gyres completely, and plugs directly into the variable speed port of the apex. The box I have is a beta and I've been told the production model looks a bit different so I've been asked not to share any pics yet, but it's basically a box with the same two connectors as the stock controller and one small port for the Var speed cable.

You will need one for each gyre as the module will control just one at a time. Other than that there's not much to it. All the programming is done with the apex and as I said earlier, there's really no limits on what you can do. It's a very cool compliment to the already very cool gyre.

Sounds awesome. I was waiting on the Wav but this might sway me over to the Gyre

I have a 130, so I'm really excited about this; not to mention the battery backup option. Definitely in for both. The only pump in my tank is the Gyre 130 set at 50% continuous and my sand (reef grade) is squeaky clean. I got it and have been running it since the day it came out and have been really happy with it, especially at the price point!

I was waiting for the next generation gyres before doing a 2nd gyre for my tank. Looks like I'll be able to get one now and use a control box for both later! Can't wait

So each gyre will take up 2 vdm ports... kinda like the kessils except they can't be daisy chained. My initial reaction was that sucks but the more I think about it it isn't too bad I guess.

I wonder if this product will work with the Reef Angel controllers. I love the ability to have unlimited control of my Vortechs with it, just with I could do the same with my XF150.

Anyone know if they ever came out with a magnet that would hold on 1" thick glass?

I don't think they did... Just pick up some stronger magnets and you'll be fine.

Looking forward to the controller. Been debating on the gyre for some time now.
