Hey what do you guys think what would be better a gyre 150 or the mp-40w QD
On a standard 120gal 4x2x2 just would like some options and comparisons
I was planing to keep a wp-40 or the RW pump along with gyre or mp40 since I'm planing to only get one right now.

What would be the best flow for this setup ?

It really depends on how your tank is going to be setup. Mainly your rockwork. The Gyre is best suited to its name. So it needs the space to be able to create the Gyre effect. Especially is your 120 has the dual overflow design. In that case the mp40 would be my choice. Especially with the price drops recently. A 120 is a great tank to run 2xmp40's in antisync nutrient removal mode. Not saying the Gyre isn't and awesome pump. Just not my first choice for a standard 120 which is about the best tank of any in my opinion for overall price for size and option you can buy.

Like greenhead said one mp40 won't be enough flow for your tank. Gyre or 2 mp40's. I'm interested to see how quiet the new mp40s are. You can't go wrong with either option.

You can rotate the gyre cages to have different flow from the 2 sides. which would work on a smaller tank. Or even replace the blades(that come with it) and have one going in forward and one in reverse at the same time.

i picked up a pair of the dampening magnet mounts from coralvue for my gyre will let you know if it dampens the nose a bit.

Just picked up the gyre boy it's silent moves tons of water ! Kicking up sand at 40% might try alternating run it higher seems like plenty rock work is open so it just pushes water.
