Anyone had success with this combination? these two have got to be my two favorite and most wanted pair.

i currently have the gigantea, going on two weeks and eating and never deflates and mouth is always tight and showing great health.

my local fish store just got in two h. mags, one red base and one is purple or brown. it was hard to see since there were under actinics.

i have always wanted the red base and this is an opportunity for me.

i have never run carbon, would it be wise? anyone ever had adverse effect when running carbon with anemones?

I hope you have a big tank. I never like mixing anemones. People do it with success but i've never had any. In fact i've seen ritteri anemones and gigantea anemones in the same tank in this forum.

I had a H.crispa in a tank for a while, was doing really well. He was maybe 12'' long. Decided to add a GBTA which was pretty large, 8'' maybe. The GBTA was healthy when I got it, healthy when I added it for the first few days. I think something happened to it though that caused death, I believe it was because there was a H.crispa in the tank. If something was wrong with my water there is no way a sebea anemone is going to show no sign of stress or sickness, but a bubble tip anemone will.

If you do it, I would run carbon for sure.

I would let the gigantea settle in first before even trying any other anemones. A two week old gigantea is not even close to being fully acclimated. Most who experience problems with gigantea usually don't report problems until three weeks or so. I would consider yourself very lucky to have a healthy one.

I've heard of incidents where healthy gigs become sick after a new gig was introduced. Some believe what was making the newly introduced gig sick, also affected the established one. I have not heard of this happening with mags and gigs, but I personally wouldn't take the chance.

Out of all the anemone species available in the trade, gigs and mags are the hardest to keep alive. I personally think you're playing with fire if you choose to mix the two. My advice would be to wait at least six months. At that time, you might decide that you want one over the other, and then you won't have to deal with any potential allelopathy issues.

Good advice.
