Plenty of room for clownfish to play around in!

That is for sure i use to have a pair of Maroons and the Female was huge about 5" or more then sold of that pair and now i gave true Percs i like the Percs much more they are not so hard on in the Mag

All the more reason for the nem to be double to triple the size of the clowns. I can see how maroons would be too rough on an anemone as some perculas and ocellaris seem to be rough. Last week there was a pair of percs association with a handdoni and the female kept biting the tentacles of the anemone.

I know I shouldn't be surprised by any of my fish going missing, but have you two had yours actually catch and eat one of your fish?

No i have not lost any fish They have touch it and dart across the tank but that is about it .

Have not lost a fish with them yet, even with my spazzy tangs who swim erratically. My haddoni however has killed fish, two puffers to be exact, and that was over the course of a month.

I think even with how sticky mags are they are not near as fast to eat fish. A quick sting may happen but the fish learn to not swim into them.

I really like the way your nem holds itself up like a shelf. Any idea what makes it do that? I have heard they will deflate or lay flat when stressed but even the healthy ones don't seem to hold that awesome pose. I ask because I am thinking of getting one real soon and would prefer to position it so that it stands like this. Thanks.

I should ask, how do you pick one out? Also, is there anything that is a sure fire way of IDing a nem as a mag? The LFS labels aren't always labeled correctly because they are sold under a different name or something of the like sometimes.

IMHO a H. magnifica is impossible to mistake for another nem once you see one in person. Also they almost always have verrucae on the underside of the pedal disc which is a key giveaway to magnificas. Look for one with a tight mouth and no tears in the feet. Magnificas are not known for their ability to heal foot wounds so look for one carefully. If you go to buy one from a LFS and it is firmly attached to the rock, offer to buy the rock. If you see the owner or worker just pry it off of its service feel free to deny taking the nem.

Basic stuff that you probably already know for the most part, but its what I look for.

i am lucky enough that i have a good relationship with my LFS he.had.known i have been looking for a long time so as.soon as i found out he had it i pick it up right away also make sure the length of tentacles are long and not short or bleach also should be sticky to the touch .

I have never touched an anemone, just haven't been brave enough and my skin is pretty sensitive.

Thanks for all of the help! Got the okay for an upgrade to the 180 so it might turn out being quite awhile before I get one now as I want the tank to be up for a year or more.
