Just curious, why do you leave part of the soft exoskeleton on the shrimp?
I started doing that after I saw my magnifica catch and eat a cleaner shrimp shell and all. I don't know if there is a benefit to the anemone to have the whole shrimp, but I want to match the natural diet as well as I can. Who knows if they can get something (like maybe iodine) out of the exoskeleton, but they deal with it in nature and the healthy magnificas I have don't seem to regurgitate shells whole. With or without the shells the waste I have seen is completely digested to brown snotty stuff. I could be missing some solid poop, but I haven't seen sign of it yet in the tank.

I just strip off the really hard parts like the the back and tail and leave the flexible shell on the swimmer thingies. The anemones seem to have a more dramatic feeding response the closer you get to a live shrimp and really stick to the shell I leave on. Try putting a feeder shrimp in one sometime to see the difference.

He made it two weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D It has been a week since his last crash. I'm starting to think he may just make it.

To recap his progress, here's day one

Wicked beautiful!!! He's turning out to be a good size!

Thanks. His size is about to become a problem though. He is in a standard 55gl, so the inside dimension is only 12 inches. I'm afraid he will reach out and touch the glass, then go on a walkabout. I really didn't want to set up a larger tank right away, but I don't think I have a choice.

oh yeah, it is definitely looking much better. Keep up the good work!!

Thanks. At this point, I'm pretty sure he's going to make it. I have been feeding him about every other day, and he seems to like catching the flake food I feed the fish. I will probably cut back on the feeding pretty soon.

I agree with flighty, she knows her stuff when it comes to magnificas... Don't feed so much right now. Let it settle in for a month or so then start feeding. Anemones probably don't eat meaty portions every 2 or 3 days in the ocean so why feed that often in a tank?

wow, great pictures. your anemone is spectacular!

Thank you:D . I've seen your anemones, so I take this as a big complement. Your Mag's are awesome!

So elegance coral, is it only in a 55 gal? With the sump how many gallons do you have??

Yes. It's only a 55. The total water volume is just shy of 100gl. The water quality stays pretty stable.
As you can see, I seriously need a larger tank.

The carpet is curling up the front glass on one side and fighting with the elegance on the other. The elegance was where the Mag is now, before I got it. I am exploring options to get a bigger tank. Hopefully I will be able to do something very soon.

240 cube time.
:) I've got one of those up and running. I'm clearing out all my corals and a lot of my fish just for a magnfica specific tank!
Better send this one my way ;)

You want to go with a tank no less than 24" deep, I would say you would want to keep the setup similar to what you have know. Take the current display and turn that into a fuge. Take the rubbermaid and turn it into a sump. Then have a 120g as a display. That I think would be the ideal setup with what you have.
