Ordered a purple one from Live Aquaria, do you recommend treatment or just observation?

I'll let the experts weigh in but I haven't seen much on treating malu. Mostly it's mags and gigs that are sensitive.

I saw that one on DD! Congrats on snagging it! Sorry, have never kept malu before. Post pics when you get it though! :)

I was surprised to see it still available after an hour or more being available. I was a passenger in a car on my iPhone without my password, had to mail my password, log in, then hope it was still available. It's a beautiful anemone and I have the perfect place for it.

Well with LA track record lately I would at least observe...

Anemones have not been as good since the Indo ban. I have seen allot more sick anemones than before. Most of the Malu's have been bleached too...

I think more anemones are coming from the Philippines and I guess collection there is more sketchy.

I am not sure where a Malu are coming now from though, probably Australia.. I know they came from Fiji but there is a ban there too.. I also know they are in Hawaii..

Other than Magnificas I think Malus seem to come in the worst. So many bleached or wont attach.

I have not heard of anyone treating a malu.

What I have been doing with good luck. I put them in a basket at the top of the water line. This way you can check on it and move if needed . When they start to move is when I know they are healthy .

I got a Crispa from DD last month...looked healthy as a bull when it arrived, good color, etc..the next morning it was puffed up an looking great...by the following afternoon it was the classic inflate/deflate syndrome going on,,,some of the "experts" on here said crispa's are more hardy than mags or gigs and therefore recommended AGAINST treating it... I watched it waste away and refuse food over a 10 day period...it never made it...So I say - TREAT no matter what.....

I would put him in QT and treat if he does not inflates after shipping or deflates after 24 hrs.

Where do you find Cipro for treating? LFS? I have a 20 gallon that'll work, just not sure on my light source.

You can buy Ciprofloxacin for fish online, no problem. You might have one of these geniuses chime in about the dosage though. Last I checked it was the same, but it's been a few years since I read up on treatment.

Thanks. I was really hoping this was the healthy purple malu I’d been trying to find.
