For the most part its just adjusting the water level in the skimmer. You can also adjust the air flow into the pump.

perhaps is coming home to algae going sexual causing your skimmer to go nuts dumping all over your floor

This goes against everything ive read but for some strange reason when ever my caulerpa goes sexual (has happened twice since i got my h and s), the exact opposite happens and the bubbles in the riser tube barely make it half way up. This last for almost a whole day before the the skimmer starts making skimmate again. Any ideas?

Setting up new A150-F2001

Hello Everyone,
Ive found a good deal on a slightly used A150-F2001 and will be receiving it later this week. My system is a 125gal tank with an extra 25 or 30 gallons in the sump. I know this model is made to set up outside the sump, but Im going to set it up in sump due to space issues. ( my sump / pump combo fills up most of my stand length ) With my system capacity of app. 150 gallons how many gallons per hour should I be feeding into the skimmer? Any suggestions for a good pump? Also I believe Ive read that the discharged water from the skimmer comes out at about 17 inches height. If this is correct can I raise the water level in my sump so there isnt too much splashing/micro bubbles, even to a level that the aquabee pump is partially submerged? Thanks for the info. Ill post some pictures of my set-up and produced sludge soon. Im hopeing for a nasty load!!

I have a A200-2xF2001. Does anybody have any comments on drilling a drain? Tubing/Glue or get some sort of small plastic or PVC (stub) and attach a tube onto that? Commentary appreciated!

Is a A150-F2001 a good choice for a 180 gallon tank? Are the Aquabee pumps good?

My MR-2 started leaking all over the place and I'm looking to retire it.

Thanks,

Jamie

@ kimo: i had one on a 150 gallon tank and changed to a
200- 1260 ( i use a in sump skimmer) and in my opinion the 200-1260 is the better choice.
But it also depends on the animals you want to keep

I had the 150x 2001 and changed in december to the 200- 1260.

both insump. they both work very well and do a great job, but

i prefer the one with the eheim pump.

Can you post a pic of it ?

One thing that bugs me about the H&S skimmers is that there is no drain on the collection cup ?

Is this a big problem or it's nothing ?

Also, I wish there was a bigger collection cup..I would hate to have to empty the collection cup everyday.

iÃ"šÃ‚´ll post a image tomorrow.

but i think itÃ"šÃ‚´s no problem, to drill a hole for a drain, the bottom of the cup is made of pvc , and itÃ"šÃ‚´s very easy to drill.

Hello Everyone,
I just finished installing my new A150-F2001 in my 125Gal.reef. It is replacing a Lifereef Vs24 and I fully expect it will kick the crap out of the lifereef. Due to space issues under my tank I installed the skimmer in the sump for the time being. In the limited literature I received it said " the water level standard is the beginning of the bayonet catch" The bayonet catch is the dark plastic flange that the collection cup twists into and locks into place. Perhaps since I bought the skimmer used I didnt receive all the literature. For now I have hooked up a Maxijet 1200. The problem with this seems to be that my water level in the skimmer stays too high, with the bubbles rising well up into the skimmer neck even when the adjusting pipe is fully opened. What is the ideal gallons per hour I should be pumping into the skimmer considering the size of my tank (125g) and the fact that I want to be producing good skimate?

Thanks in Advance!

Steve

I just got my H&S A200-1260 from Scott at aquariumspecialty... The thing is awesome... Itââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s only been running for a few hrs and already starting to pull crud out... I can't wait to see it after it breaks in...

Shawn, what tank are you running it on?

Any particular reason you did not get it at Fins Reef? He is running a free shipping offer right now.

Right now it will be running on my 92gal corner bow because the POS skimmer that I got with that system broke a few wks ago... I will be moving it over to the prop system that I have planned once I get the 600gal running...

I didn't know that FinsReef had free shipping :(

Is everyone gluing the return pipes together? Is there any concern that if something should happen to the return pipe, you'd have trouble fixing it ourselves? I don't expect any problems, but would like options on how others have set theirs up.

Thanks

Hi guys,

Just joined the in the cult, got the in sump 150-F5001 running on my 150 gallon tank.
Great purformance, skimming the minute it switched it on. But one thing i notice is that the aquabee pump seems to be adding a lot of heat into my system. After installing it, the temperature of my tank increase by at least 1 degree.

Does anyone else using it notice this heat issue?

my Aquabee pump on the same skimmer external and its not hot at all, not even warm when i touch it, is yours hot?
