if seen it before, but the courios is, some people here in germany get best results without any reducing or say itÃ"šÃ‚´s working better
if you reduce.
And Mr. H&S told me , it should work best without.
He had no explanation, why it doesnÃ"šÃ‚´t work for me,

but i will take the pump to H&S in january, so we test it.

Here in the US, the pumps pull more air than the 220/50hz models that are used in Germany. IIRC pumps run at 20% increase when run on 60hz. Not air flow but water flow. It all depends on what model skimmer and how you mount the pump. IE on the 200-1260 with the elbow attached, the airflow is about dead on without tuning down the air, with the pump attached directly to the body, it pulls more air with it pinched off some. The easiest way to make sure is to get a airflow meter and adjust for maximum air, then adjust for water level with the wedge pipe.

Sohal, the 150 will do great on your size tank.

@ finsreef: which pumps do you use on the H&S skimmers??
Thought you would also use the eheims 1260.
Cause when i was at H&S ( about 1,5 years ago) he showed me
a different needlewheel for the us -market, with shorter needles,
so that the output would nearly be the same as the 50hz version.

Here is a pic of a needle wheel off my H&S

Thomas,
I use the standard Eheim 1260's and Aquabee's that are produced for the skimmers.
I think it has more to do with the Eheim motor, and the intake and output size of the pumps.
The US version of the standard Eheims has a necked down intake, not as large as the Impeller Covers that are on the H&S. I will try to take some pictures on Mon to show the difference.

Hey guys I am thinking of adding a A150-2001 on a new 55 gallon which is really heavy stocked. Would that be okay? Or would the A110-2000 be suffiecient? I really want to overskim to have a clean enviroment for my rare fish. I love my deltec mce600 which is on my other 55 gallon but I really ant to try an H&S on this tank.

if you really want to overskimm use the H&S 150/2001

i had one for years, itÃ"šÃ‚´s a real good skimmer.
And now a pic of my new one, after 12 hours skimming

got him thursday , and after a bit of time finding the best setup, itÃ"šÃ‚´s running fine

So do you think that a US version Eheim with a manufactured needlewheel would be as effective as the one on your H&S?

I would try the 2001, and gravity feed it. I had the 2000 and liked it, but I think the 2001 would be a super solid performer - especially for someone who already has owned a really high quality performer.

And happy holiday. :D

ken,

I'd just go with the pump that finsreef sells and make sure you get the right one. The most you could save would probably be 40-50 bucks and then you'd have the hassle of not having a stock venturi and then having to deal with how you are going to convert everything to the metric system

The venturi part is easy- Plus the Eheim that's sold on fin's reef I believe has an Ocean Eunner style needlewheel...That's what I was told anyway....Am I wrong on that one?

So the Ehiems that are sold at Finsreef are not the same as the ones put on the H&S's?

And also, I heard somewhere that Ehiem owns aquabee. Is this true? Or are they two diffrent companies with no affiliation?
Thanks.

Jim

I think that the Eheim 1260 that finsreef.com sells is the one you actually get on the H&S... that's why they are those prices. I mean that's why they call them replacement pumps...

Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Peace,
John H.
