i got my internal skimmer with the eheim 1260 about 3 weeks ago, and i was a bit noisy, some sound comming from somewhere i could not locate, the pump is placed on a piece of neoprene and connected to the skimmer with a piece of silicone hose.

but still noisy, today i touched the cover on the backside of the pump and the noise was gone. it finally removed the the cover( itÃ"šÃ‚´s only a cheap plastic thingie that stuck on the pump) and now there is silence.
so , if anybody has some undefined noise with the eheim pumps , try it.

HI all I need to know if anyone can tell me how tall is the collection cup when it is off the skimmer body . And what do you all think about the H&S 200x2-F2001
Thanks

650 p series, Now that is a series skimmer. 25" diameter

Great looking tank also. :)
Brenner, The collection cup is 9.25" tall.

Pili - if you decide you want a skimmer, that skimmer will be great. Get the external and gravity feed it so you won't need another pump on such a small tank. I had it on a 70G and it was great.

Thomas, I had the exact same experience. I actually took the top piece off and reglued it.

Brenner, I'm setting up a new tank and that is the skimmer I plan on using.

Reefsalt - thats a great tank. H&S has an incredible reputation outside of the US. They're just not a flashy company. Its probably better, the attention to detail on the H&S is incredible. Here is another tank I love -

Fliger,

You got that right,I think they dont have the "Flashy" apperance but thay make up ten fold in quality construction and perform just like the Flashy units.

I2K,

yeah holy cow is right.

Hey guys,
I am looking for a skimmer for my 375 total gal of 440 in system. I am looking at several options from ETSS - Bermuda Aquatics - The tank will be heavily stocked with fish, shark or two, etc. I didn't get to read all of the posts in this section but have any of you ran an H&S in a similiar tank size with a heavy bio load and how do they hold. The picture of the large H&S posted above shows that it is a capable skimmer. Just wanted to hear how well they preform.
Thanks

Thanks Fliger,
I was considering and commercial ETSS-BUT am I being swayed towards an H&S. I like the pictures of skimate that I am seeing.

Wow, that 650 p series skimmer looks insane! But the collection cup looks so disproportional. But, looks aside, I think the smaller cup would be a lot easier for cleaning. I couldn't imagine having to remove a 25" diameter cup and haul it to the car wash for a good spraydown.

Skimmate and less electrical consumption. The ETSS will require A LOT of cleaning and will need a really large pressure rated pump. An H&S will consume less power being easier on the monthly bill, and it will not require it's own circuit breaker :D

Reefsalt, thats an awsome tank!!! I love the hight! Any more links or pictures about it?

I think i am going to go with the A110-F2000, i just have to order it. I dont that i would be able to have it gravity fed though on my 40 gallon because there is no sump but what size feed pump would you guys recommend? i was thinking one in the 150 gph range or is that too little? Thanks.

Just Ordered

Just Ordered

I just ordered a 200-2x1260 through FINS REEF. Through all the research and beating my brains in over selecting a skimmer, I am happy to have the skimmer ordered. I am glad that i came accross these H&S threads, you guys were very helpful. I feel confident that the skimmer is going to an excellent job.
Thanks

Pilot Fish- you'll love the 200x1260. I have the A200 2x1260 and love it. I could'nt believe it mine was skimming w/in hours of plugging it in.
