Haddoni releasing zoo (brown liquid) 3x a week or everyday

Asking on behalf of a friend.

I'm stumped. Their carpet seems healthy, eats, etc. They got it about a month ago, treated it, and now it's in dt attached etc

If params are good and light is good, is this anemone going to die since its expelling brown liquid often?

If your friend is feeding it a lot, it could be waste (poop) that's coming out and not zoox. Is the nem bleaching? If it's been in the tank for a month and it's not bleaching or showing other signs of sickness, then I wouldn't be too concerned.

If it's healthy, maybe you can tell your friend to stop feeding it, and see if it stops expelling the brown liquid.

On a side note, a while ago I posed the question "do anemones actually poop?" and I was chastised for asking, as the assumption is that anything that eats, must remove waste. It appears to be obvious, but my question was if there was any scientific evidence, as in, did anyone analyze what the nem expelled to show that it was actually waste and not zoox or something else? I have 10 nems right now and I haven't seen any of them poop. I assume it just happens in the middle of the night.

If it does only happen at night, and your friend is watching it happen during the day, then maybe it could be indicative of a problem. But, like I said, if it's not bleaching or deflating or showing other signs of illness, I wouldn't worry about it.

It might be looking a little duller/ not as vibrant but other than that it's not turning white (unless duller is a sign of early bleaching)

I'm not sure if this would be poop considering it's brown liquid and I've never had any of mine expel anything like this and if they did and it was as frequent as this one, I'm sure I would have seen it. I've seen his do it twice so far and it's pure brown/ dark liquid (I know it's not a spawn though)- it's been doing everyday/ almost everyday. If it was poop I think it would be a bit more solid and ball like. Sometimes the brown looks like heat waves coming out. I remember reading your post on it awhile back, I think they expel waste somehow too. I'm almost connived I've seen them expelling waste happen in the form of sand like dark colored mucous balls.

The mouth raises cylindrically, gets puffy, and then the brown/ dark liquid starts coming out. He has been feeding about 1x every 2 weeks.

I think night time/ end of the cycle has been most common. It has done it during the day too.
