Hair Algae Solution That Worked For Me

My hair algae is gone and I think I'm done with any further treatments. I guess if it comes back it would not be the fault of the Algaefix product. I'm looking foward to hearing everyone else's results.

Devoman what were the first signs you noticed that it was receeding? After two treatments (2nd treatment yesterday) it seems mine maybe very slighty yellowing and releasing alot easier from the rock but definetely not gone yet. Is this what you noticed with your treatments?
Also I need to do a water change and was thinking of adding the proper amount of algaefix to the new water before adding it to the tank so that I do not dillute the treatments already in the display. What are the thoughts on this?

youngreef180....

While I'm not Devoman...dah...IMO, why not just wait until treatment is completed, than do a water change which then be a very GOOD idea to anyways............water changes really while very important, don't have to be run like clock work ...they'll wait a few days...good for u that u even do them....

The first indication I got was a slight discoloration of the algae. It had some whitish tips and from there it just seemed to go away. I only did one water change during the treatment and it was about 15-20%. I kept the treatment on schedule (every three days) regardless of the water change. I think it took about five treatements before I saw real noticeable results.

Is it just me, or does devoman and a couple of other people on this thread sound like they've got something to gain from sale of this product?

a little to advertisementy, if you ask me.

nmbeg....

I can assure you I have nothing to gain. Just trying to help. Kind of thought that was the idea of this online community. If you don't want to try it.....don't. I made perfectly clear that others can try at their own risk.

Good luck.

Sounded to me like a few people may have found something that could help other reefers. Personally I thank them because I'm interested in the product.

As did I. Keep us updated.:bounce2:

Thanks RGC and firebirdude. I have not applied any treatments since 12/14. So far all is well. All the corals / livestock seem happy. The hair algae is gone for now. I'm pretty sure my initial outbreak was due to a bad batch (or two) of RODI water. I will post again if anything comes up. Thanks again.

Hey thats a great idea can someone get me the email for this company? I would be happy with lets say 5% of all profits! Devoman you should at least get 10%! lol

I cant speak for anyone else on this thread but I was simply running out of options and after my local lfs recommended this to me (with caution) I decided to do a search here on RC where I found this thread. With all the things we can cure or treat these days it only seems like a matter of time before they find something that can eradicate or control nuisance algae in our reef tanks while being perfectly safe for the inhabitants. Whether or not this product is it I dont know yet but it is doing a good job so far.

Also a thread like this could easily destroy the reputation of this product. If people like me start having negative results deaths or losses of any kind I will be the first to post it and I am sure others would do the same. That is what is so cool about threads like this even if someone did have other intentions when starting this thread they could not control what we post as to our personal experiences and results with the product. So that says to me that you would have to be very confident in your product before attempting something like nmbeg is suggesting.

I hate to say it, but I was a little suspicious at first. nmbeg sounds a little to quick to accuse someone, but I wondered if devoman might be advertising. Honestly, at this point... I don't care. I need a solution, and I am excited to try this.

I promised some "Before" pics... Here they are.

I've been fighting this stuff for a while, so don't be mean! I think it might be time to buy an RO unit...

easiest way is to host your pics on photobucket, and it's easy to link your posts to the pics there.
