Is Halichoeres melanurus (Hoeven's/Melanurus Wrasse) compatible Halichoeres chrysotaenia (Vrolik's Wrasse)?

I wouldn't try those two together, personally. Appearance wise, they can look like the same species.

I have both together and there is definitely a heirarchy, but they can be kept together, but I added them near the same time and have a few halichoeres wrasses to disperse aggression.

My Melenarus has issues with my Quoyi parrot fish that is 4-5x larger than him, I'm guessing its because of the somewhat similar colors and body shape. I wouldn't attempt it

Correct. Appearance as in similar colors in this case vs. body shape for the reason you mentioned.
