HM 10K 250 SE on standard magnetic ballast.. just wondering what you guys think of these.. i purchased one(deciding on whether or not i want to keep it) but cant find many opinions on them.. i as of rite now run the 14K Hamilton..also what is th difference in PAR from the 14K, couldnt find that either.. this question may have been beat to death, but i cant find anything on it.. just wondering what everyone think of them..Thanks!!

i switched from a ham 14k to a ham true 10k. getting alot faster growth with the 10k, but i dont like the colour near as well. but i am looking for growth for now. i will probably alternate bulbs from now on to get the growth for awhile then the look for awhile.

with VHO actinic sup - the 10K will perform better - at least it does for me in the 175W versions where i tried both10 and 14K's - i like it both for performance and asthetics i will likely stick with this bulb on my one tank - although i'm trying another (iwasaki 14K) on my other and really like it too
without the actinic sup though you may find it too yellow??? PAR on the 10 is nearly 1.5x the 14 in the 175W versions i've never looked at the 250's but imagine it parallels - check sanjays page

I can't find the info on the 250 watt version but I am sure it is a similar dropoff as the 175 watt Hamiltons. There is usually a significant dropoff with the higher temp Hamiltons when compared with their 10 K's. Here is a link to the 175 watt Hamilton specs to give you an idea of the PAR dropoff with the higher K bulbs made by Hamilton. Unless you are running 400 watters, it would seem that 10 K is the way to go with the Hammy's. Here is the link
