hammer vs. hammer?

I have a green hammer with flesh colored tips and flesh colored hammer with green tips.

I'd like to push them up against each other and create a super blended look.

would they go hostile against each other or can they grow in peace side by side?

The way I understand it is that pretty much all Euphyllia corals can touch without any problems except the Torch, but definitely be prepared to make some changes if things go bad. You should know within a few hours whether they'll get along or not I would think though.

I have several hammers, and a couple frogspawns all huddled together without issue. A euphyillia garden if you will. My torch on the hand will send out sweepers 4 inches and longer to get anything near it.

From what I've head, they're almost always fine. But sometimes one may want more real estate and decimate the colony adjacent to it, regardless of whether or not its the same species. Not sure if this is true, but it's food for thought.

FWIW My lights just came on but you can see in the bottom left my hammers and frogspawn touch each other constantly and have for over a year.... now that torch on the other hand...

Ok. Is there a clear way to distinguish a frogspawn from a torch?

tentacles on a torch are much longer and thinner than frogspawn or hammer

Definitely frogspawn.

Frogspawn have several colored tips on the end of its tentacles. Torchs have a single colored tip, and their tentacles are quite a bit longer.

Ok. In terms of grow out, I find that leaving them to grow naturally is unproductive. They grow into balls and the lower branches eventually die due to shadowing ... then new lower branches emerge, and it repeats.

It seems very wasteful. Do most people break off the lower branches and replant side by side to create a wider but shallower growth ?

It's either that or create vertical rod structures with the living balls of coral growing as if suspended in mid water..

Actually, I have fragged both frogspawn and candy canes in half because of what you described. IME, they do seem to grow faster when you frag them. I place them side by side and he two halves fill in fairly quickly.

I frag off lower branches and glue them next to the mother colony or sell the frag because of them possibly dying. Here is my rock with 2 different hammers and frogspawn growing together

These all started as 1 head frags and have been next to each other for a few years now. I frag them any time a lower head gets to shaded.

Depends on how it is growing out. I usually just use a coral cutter to cut them. You do have to be a bit carfeul so that it doesn't shatter and fracture any heads.
