Hang on overflow anxiety

I have a Eshopp PF-1000 hang on overflow. Its so Loud and sometimes I start tellong myself its gonna lose siphon. I'm wondering if you guys have a modification for it to hush up. And if its possible to install a peanut pump onto a drilled nipple on the siphons to promise a siphon is kept. Or am I over thinking the lose of siphon of my overflow?

the sound these make is the fault of the drain.

two tubes loosing siphon is a function of flow volume.

The fix to both worries will require a bit DIYing. But first, what return pump are you using and do you throttle it back at all? What do you believe is your gallons per hour through the sump?

Its a jobea DCP -10000. Sump is 8 ft below tank. Its at P-33 on the puno controller. Otherwise thInk level starts to slowly rise. Caught it at top of tank one day. Pure luck.

That steady rise is a result of the prefilter sponges getting clogged over time. That’s why when I ran an HOB overflow, I ditched the sponges and replaced it with the Stockman standpipe.

I stuck a piece of 3/8" tubing down my eshopps until you hit the sweet spot. Also removed the sponge. I believe that is their idea to make it quiet, but it obviously doesn't do jack for noise.

To prevent overflows: have a 2/way ATO (autotopoff) sensor, one that senses overfill as well as low water. 2) if you get a massive hair algae bloom, treat it early with GFO (ferrous oxide/Phosban) and be very careful to remove floating algae: it can clog overflow teeth. 3) never put anything clog-able like a sponge or filter pad into your water flow. A filter sock is ok in a sump (it can overflow safely), but otherwise, keep that water moving.

I'm guessing that means you turned the pump way down otherwise the flow is greater than the drains ability to keep up.

If you wish to keep running slow (my preference) I'd pull one of the U tubes off. One tube will maintain a higher constant velocity which will keep air bubbles from collecting in the tube.

Stockman or Durso mods should be adequate for reasonable noise reduction @ 3-400gph with two drains.

I have a Lifereef overflow box with a silencer. The silencer is just a short piece PVC pipe with a cap and a hole drilled in the top to accept airline tubing. The air line tubing goes all the way down into the sump. The PVC pipe fits over the drain pipe. There are notches cut into the bottom of the PVC pipe to let water flow into the drain.
