I was in the lfs yesterday and they had this guy for $ 40 and I couldn't pass it up. is this a Australian one?

appears to have the coloration of an Indian ocean tusk but pictures aren't the best. either way, great price.

I thought the Indian ocean one didn't have a lot of bule on them?

Yea pics are bad he would swim away and hide if I got close and idk why they are sideways and so tiny

I can't see the pictures, but the Aussie tusks tend to have more red. $40 is a great price for an Indo though.

I think it's a Aussy, the red stripe on the end of the tail is what makes me think this. Snatch him up either way... 40$... Stupid cheap

i already did when the guy said 40 i was like yep sold lucky i still had my qt up

and he looks like the aussy on dd to me......and i fed him some lrs fish frenzy and he attacked it and has been swimming around all day so that's always a good thing

$40 is cheap either way.

They took a beating if they sold an Aussie for $40 lol

Another thing with Tusks.

If it's small, 99.9% chance it's Indian Ocean.

You never see small Aussie Tusks.

This Aussie one is on DD right now for $300 listed as 6"

I like mine better then the $300 one:)

Do thse guys have any special qt steps they need? I allways thow pp in the tank and watch them for a good 2 month's and treat with copper if I see any ich pop up. Do they take copper ok?

I didn't have to treat mine with copper, but I never came across anything that would suggest they don't take copper treatment well like some fish species.
