hybrid

i am debating on buying a harlequin tusk for my reef but would like some opinions on people that had or have them for a long period of time i am not concerned on shrimps & clean up crew my concern is how aggressive will they get & will it be ok with my other fish witch are 5"achilles tang,3"chevron tang,4" black hybrid, 3"bellus angel,4"moorish idol,6"ausie scotts, velvet wrasse pair,4" grey head wrasse,4"radiant wrasse, 3"solorensis wrasse,3" red head wrasse,4" timor wrasse,3" melanurus wrasse, flame angel, 1inch cherub angel, flameback angel, multibar angel, coral beaty, ornate leopard wrasse, pair meleagris leopards-pair yellow coris wrasse & a lemon meringue wrasse my tank is 96x30x25

They can beat on smaller fish, but are usually fine with corals. You're motile inverts will probably be obliterated.

thanks for the reply i was planning on getting a 5 inch but i am more concerned about my other wrasses

They're in the wrasse family, and there's always a chance of trouble, but HT are usually pretty peaceful. In a tank that size, keep it well fed, and most likely you'll be fine.

I would worry about your smaller wrasses when the tusk gets bigger. Get the Australian one if you get one BIG color difference

I have a harlequin tusk with lots of smaller fish for 2-3 years now no problem what so ever except that it is not aussie but when I put a larger Aussie HT in the tank. The new one gets beat up. but I won't get rid of my little Indo because it always eats pellets and survive my tank crash.

Also its hard to find a smaller Aussie ht but if you do grab it right away.
They don't grow fast too.

what size is yours bullitr i just ordered the 5inch australian from p.i.a i should receive it tomorrow morning

Hey Bullitr do you have any inverts? Any kind of CUC at all? Just curious because the only reason I dont go for the HT is because they will use the CUC as a personal buffet...What is your experience?

i just hope mine turns out to be a good model citizen like most that i have heard of & not a terror towards my other fish i'm not worried about mu cuc as i already have some large halichoeres species that will also decimate them i am excited to soon find out as this is one of my favourite fishes

It's very timid except for another HT
I have starfish and snails but I don't have any shrimp since I have another 40 wrasse in the tank with him.

I am more of the opposite. I dont care about the crabs and snails but the shrimp i really like. If the HT would stay away from the shrimp i woiuld be ok..

I have a pair of cleaner wrasse for 2-3 years with him no issues
Plus the wrasse clean better than the shrimp in my opinion.

It's funny how many people will still take risks by buying a risky fish on impulse, then ask whether it's coral safe, CUC safe or compatible with the other fish in the tank after it's been introduced. Most of us have already learned from experience that there are rarely exceptions to the rule. Wild caught fish will always resort to natural behavior.

My large 6" aussy never bothered a thing in my reef tank besides my helfrichi firefish which became a meal. Never touched my clams, corals, snails, shrimp, hermits, or anything else.
