Has Anyone Ever Analyzed Bacterial Flora in Skimmate?

Every time I clean my skimmer cup, I wonder what bacteria are growing in the warm, smelly, proteinaceous stew and scum that I'm scrubbing with my bare hands from the cup.

Has anyone ever cultured skimmate and determined what bacterial flora live in the stuff? I wonder if it can cause disease?

..and then go to your own ED to get treated. :) I know I went to mine when I had a stone. They took pics of me in there and won't ever let me forget it.

John, I had to go to my own ER last week with a very severe headache. (I have a family history of three first-degree relatives dying young of ruptured brain aneurysms.) I seriously hated being on the other end of the CT scan beam.

I have to believe that skimmate is a primordial soup of yucky bacteria, growing at a warm temperature in a rich culture medium of fish poo, but a thorough search of this site yielded no results on bacterial cultures.
