I've had several pairs of true percs over the years, and never had this problem ...
Over the past few weeks, I noticed that one of my acans would deflate, but by morning, things would be normal again. Slowly, I noticed more and more acans would deflate in the evening (this is when tank lights have been on for 5-6 hours now) but by morning, things look normal again. Then I caught them. Both my female snowcasso and my male onxy C-quest biting and attacking the heck out of the acans! They were ripping out tissue, and I could see the torn off flesh floating in the water! They've been doing this for a couple days now, in fact, they've been so rough that they're knocking them over.
Has anyone had this happen to them?? I've heard of maroons being rough on anemones, even moving rock, but I've never heard of clowns attacking coral.
Tank is 18 gallons, no host anemone, although they like to hang by my wellsophyllia, and are constantly biting the rock nearby (the typical pre-spawning behavior). Tank has been set up for 10 months. They are HEAVILY fed 2 times a day ... could this all just equate to pre-spawning behavior? Experts please chime in!
Thanks!
