Has anyone just had to start all over again?

And this just crashed on me, due to the 150g blowing a seam, and transferring all the corals over to improper tanks.. a lot RTNed when setup in the new tank...

ya it sucks, but like others of said, a crash gives you a chance to do a "fresh start" and setup the tank differently, and maybe re-organize your plumbing to make life easier for you (did for me) just small things like that.. and also learn from your mistakes..

How long did it take you to get back and re-setup after the crash? Was everything lost from the crash?

Between the crash and finding a 150g and buying the new equipment, id say about 5-6 weeks before the new tank was setup, almost all the coral in the 75g died, except some LPS, but ALL my sps had died.. id say I had about 90% die off...

the reason for the crash was a a carbon recall... where there was strong amounts of copper in the carbon, did a water change, put fresh carbon in... woke up the next morning to that..

Fire. Destruction. Sad. Re-start.

But most folks know about that, and not really the re-start cause you are talking about.

I just had this a crash not to long ago... Did exactly what others said.. Broke it all down.. Redid it all.. Sucks but it is part of the hobby.

You guys who had huge crashes for one reason or another and restarted the tank have some serious dedication. As much I love the hobby, I'm pretty sure if something happens to my 92 and I can't save livestock, I'll be out for a long time.

Lost my tank do to a timely power outage that lasted almost two weeks. This was 7 years ago. Four months ago I finally am re setting tank up. I don't have enough post to upload pictures but it is interesting how much has changed in the hobby. I no longer run mh or vho I have all led now. Still rocking my ac3 and tunze streams.

I didn’t have a crash. However, while this sounds strange but i started all over with my 300g because of overgrowth of Poscillipora. It was growing all over the place even on my clams. I was up to using two cups each of Two Part on a daily baisis.

I think I have found that the challenge of building the system is almost more fun than maintaining it.....
