hatchery tank set questions

I am on my fifth time trying to raise clown fish. The first time it went pretty good. I got about a hundred babies. But my next couple of tries my numbers have decreased. All my troubles happen in the first week after hatching. I don't think I have the hatchery tank set up right. I use a 10 gallon tank. Which is setting on a black table. Tank is wrapped in black. One heater and one air stone. For lighting, above the table is a ceiling fan with a dim able light. I dim the light down pretty dim. 24 hours a day. The fry don't really swim around. They just stair at the glass.

I have seen some people put a white bottom on the tank. Should I do this? Is my lighting to much or not enough?

I've had the same trouble as you and I have just started using a black bucket for the larvae. They say the round is better for them. But people have had luck with rectangle as well. Looks like enough light is there,they don't need much. If you are putting alot of green water in the tank, that spikes the ammonia which leads to death. Gotta keep the water changed. or use the ammonia block stuff but I didnt have luck with that myself.

I see the problems. I did the same thing first 2 trys putting the tank on a black table and had no luck. I finally figured with black sides black bottom the fry cannot see there food. Put a white towel under the tank and get light just above the tank. You will see a huge difference and they will start feeding. Also leave one side open so room light can enter.
