Okay now I get it. Explanation of the inlet.

literally the inlet is a direct pipeline to the ocean
one side of bridge is ocean other side is intracoastal
you are literally standing at the mouth of the ocean!
Strong visible current 10+ mph coming in and out
current pulls crap out of intracoastal brings fresh water in
time to go is 12 to 2pm middle of incoming current/ high tide (crisp clean crystal water)
those tangs do look like purples even with polarized glasses hmmm

Tried uploading photos. Sorry cant:( upload error...

high tide rolls forward approximately an hour so everyday, so check the tide tables. there are some great apps for your phone to track times so you know when to go. also, you should plan to arrive at least 1 hour before the actual high tide time, as the the closer you get to the actual high tide time, the current goes slack and starts changing directions.

yes, haulover water is A++

Is it really that good?
For water I normally stop by the reef on the way back from fishing mahi, usually get 5-15gals.

That's better, but incoming tide at an inlet is the next best thing for those of us not fortunate enough to have a boat lol!

I get 1800 gal from there every 3 months or so and its crystal clear ....

Haven't been there in a while. I'm assuming you just drive up and use a huge bilge pump to pump into a trailer? Pics of the setup and some action shots would be great. I'm nowhere near doing that, but if I had s tank as big as yours I would strongly consider it!

I used my coconut cutter from home depot. Cost $20 ish bucks. Tie rope to bucket and hook bucket handle with staff hook. 50 gallons in 10minutes.

Matt, do you have it delivered or do you get it yourself? I thought about going out in the boat and getting it, but I think it would be a pain. If I was to do that I would want about 100 gallons or so. I would have to get 2 more brutes or some other container to fill and then have to pump it from the boat up to the house. Maybe I'm to lazy. :spin1: Still thinking about it though.

Yes haul over inlet is a great source for water..... There was also a documentary that it's also a high way for sharks getting ready to breed. Friend of ours was attacked a couple years back tubing near that sandbar by the inlet...... but anyways o greatly recommend the water I've used it for years when I used to work down by the inlet.

Thank god I have a nano! For now..... lol

Very fortunate, I'm on the bayside though so going ocean side takes time/money/fuel, which is why I only do it if I'm going fishing.
Other times I just make my own. But when I do get the water from the ocean/reef I notice a difference in my tank.

100 gals of saltwater on a boat? lol That's a lot, depending on the boat of course. Strapping down those brutes will be a pain, especially if it's a rough day.
I've done the pumping from the boat to the house before lol.. It's a pain, at least for me since it's a two story house.

I would only go out on a calmer day, and yes securing them would be a pain. Did you do some kind of permanent plumbing? I would only do a hose up to the house. Wished the boat had a huge plastic tank installed down below. That would really help.

I have been getting water there for years .same place all those water trucks get water for LFS . When not lazy rather get the water 20miles out .that`s some of the best .
