Alright , moved the fish to there new home .. (I actually needed the QT space ) . This tank was practically setup just for them... rock work .. flow ect.

Rock work isn't complete yet.. Have a hugh shelf piece i'm going to add to give a big ledge to the fish to mimic a more natural environment for them

tank spec 120G ( 48x30x19 ) , remote wavebox ( two tunze 6055' ) . Plumbed off my existing prop system ( water temp runs 72F ) with a 1/2 chiller ... Total volume on the system 400G+

We lost the one with intestinal blockage. She really just disappeared out of nowhere. The one with the spot on the tail, we tried picking it off. The fish doesn't seem quite affected.

Given the choice between larger food such as Hikari Mysis/Brine and prawn eggs/Daphna, the longfins prefer prawn eggs and daphna. Perhaps, smaller particles are what they are used to in the wild. The aurulentus eat both but go for the larger food first.

Dunno why in a school of anthias.. There's always one stepchild ... It's soo weird.. I have a step child of each species in my display lol , they always have the worst color and are off to the side .

I'm still hoping for that big female to turn male ... Although them just staying alive at this point makes me very happy.

you going to keep it blue like that? deepwater style, maybe look at some-other deepwater peaceful fish. Tilefish or Firefish perhaps

Yeah i'm going to keep it that blue, right now the bulb combo's are
2 ATI blue plus
2 Fiji Purples.
4 UVL super actinics ..

usually i only keep 2 ATI blue plus and 2 actinics on.

I've been there done that with the tilefile and firefish, not really looking to add many fish to this tank, i do want to add flavoguttatus tho,

just found this thread. any updates to this great setup? How many times a day are you feeding?

Will update it tonight with new pictures if i can. We are feeding 3-6 times a day. We lost one of the longfins for unknown reasons ... it was the exiled middle sized female that never looked right. We currently have 3, still waiting on the dominant female to turn hopefully :hammer: ...

On the unfortunate note, i tried importing several more of these and failed miserably on multiple occasions melting in the bag (less than 12 hours from shipping to me ), dying before shipping, dying on decompression upon collection, these fish just don't ship well, acclimate , collect well or any of the requirements that make it in a home aquarium. Not to mention they always come riddled with unknown parasites , weird weird stuff i've never seen or anyone i've shown pictures of them too (ended up with a black leech like thing on a couple of them on the last attempt )who knows what your bringing up at those depths , .... I just got lucky the first time around. I would recommend people to shy away from trying to attain these specimens, if you are ... be prepared for a long quarantine and meds ...

Just read through this thread and am amazed at these Anthias. Was wondering if the water temps need to stay on the cool side since they are deep water or can you slowly raise temps? Also where are you purchasing your anthias? Locally or from a distributer/importer? I'm also located in SD and may be in the market soon for a trio of Ventralis or Borbonius. You can pm if you'd like. Thanks
