Heaters?

Which heaters are you using? I need to replace some of my OLD Ebo-Jagers and I'm not sure which are the best available at this point. Thx in advance.

I use the Eheim-jager heaters. They keep my tank at 79.4 all night in the garage.

I like the ones with digital readouts instead of the twisting/turning mechanical knob type.

Currently Ebo/Eheim Jager. Some are more than 10 yrs. old.

I'm thinking about trying a Ti heater because they are so much shorter!

If you have a main controller adjusted to a setting and the digital controller on these units. Its just an added safety measure.

Yes, and probably at a very inopertune moment as well (not that there is ever a good time to lose heating).

I don't think there's a heater out there that you can totally trust. At least I haven't found one.

When I started with freshwater in the 70's, I never changed or bought a new heater. I think quality control is lacking these days...

not only is quality control down but prices are up as is the potential for disaster. I have had bad luck with heaters as well, especially the stealths. They seem to last just past their warranty and then crap out. My luck with the via aqua has been bad too, the new ones seem to be a little better IME as far as not leaking. I run all my heaters off a Apex at the moment and doubt I'd ever go back to trusting the built in thermostat on a heater.

Stay away from the glass ones,and get one with the controller not directly on the heater!

Why can't you use the one with a controller, plus having it on your reef controller also? Thats what I did. Viaaqua then put on my reefkeeper elite. Both have been good for 2 yrs now.
