is there anythign wrong with putting hot water into some water bottles?

I know this wont hold a steady temp, but it should at least keep teh water warm wont it?

as of now I have power and IM sitting at 80 degrees, IM just wondering in case, since if I lose power I wont be able to rock reefcentral

Run an inverter off your car cigarette lighter with an extension cord and you can run a heater and a powerhead for $35 from Wal-Mart. I have 2 to keep my tank going when the power goes out.

are these found in the automobile section or in the tools section

Neither, they are back with the electronics by the TV's. $35 for a 400 watt inverter.

I have a 750 watt inverter I can loan out.It was big enough to sustain my 180 minus the lights. You'll have to come and pick it up though.

I have not picked one up yet, but there are battery powered heaters that you can get from cattle stores. They are designed to go into rubermaid type water containers for cattle. They run on Nine volt batteries. here is an example

There are also some indoor propane heaters. If you can keep the room temp stable then the tank temp will stay up.

i ran a power inverter off a diesel truck battery (1050 CCA) for about 8 hrs. It kept both my tanks flowing and warm. I also have run an inverter off my old toyota pickup, but i would let it idle all night and turn it off the engine during the day for about 3-4 hrs at a time. Then start it back up and let it run for a half hr or so just to charge the battery back up.

I loss power off and on for the weekend . I was able to keep my water temp up with candles under my stand on the floor .Work well as long as the doors to the stand stayed closed .

i would not be lighting a fire under may tank.....JMO

The hot water bottle trick will work fine. Just keep changing them out when the water in them cools off, and make sure the cap is on tight!
