Height of Halides

For those of you that have 400 watt bulbs over your sps tanks, I was just wondering how high you mount them from the water's surface. Is there a distance that's too far/close?

As close as you can get with out heat problems and even light distrabution.

usually 8 inches or more any closer and you start having heat issues.

I keep mine at 10"
