Hello fire, bye bye aiptasia!!!!

fwiw, i have taken out massive infestations of aiptasia twice with a pepp squad. 6 at a time. they are bold in a pack and inside of a month they got every single last aiptasia. even the big ones.

realistically, i'm not sure you can hand pick every aiptasia out, and it only takes one to start the whole debacle over again if you miss it.

F'nF'.......sounds like a plan.....1 ?? thu, what has been your experince with pepp's and their tolerance to Nitrate?? like how high PPM before it effects the pepp..

two questions:

1) for those that say you injected the aptasia - did you actually inject (impale the body) or squirt what every substance you were using at it and it takes it in when closing up.
2) for those that had success with peppermint shrimp - what kind of fish do you have?

On the note of Berhia Verruccorconis nudis, be careful if you order them online, try to make sure that the distributor is selling what they're claiming. I once ordered some online and ended up with some kind of snail which proliferated quite nicely in my aquarium and was a helpful addition to the clean up crew I suppose, but did virtually nothing to Aiptaisia that I could see.

1. inject into mouth of aptasia with small 'hypo' needle...they will ingest and 'die'...although they seem to come back, in the exact same place
2. fairy/flasher wrasses, geni. angels, tangs, gobies, blennies, foxface...

I really enjoyed microwaving the rock and the sound of the aiptasia popping !

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

I have my torch, stay tuned for a movie of some aiptasia getting nuked.

Nudibranch are a little expensive. You need several and I have to get them shipped. I read an article about them and it sounds like it is really easy to breed them. That would be pretty fun to grow nudi's and share them with your pals.

Berghia do work well, however, the Nudibranch you posted a picture of, is NOT a Berghia.

well you are partialy correct the picture i posted is a Berghia coerulescens. the berghia that is most commonly used for mojano eradication is Berghia Verrucicornis. I did however mean to post a pic of the Berghia Verrucicornis so for that thank you for the correction. I do not know if the berghia coerulescens will eat mojano.

Used peps and Mrs.balls pickling lime.You find it by the canning supplies at the grocery store I use 1 tble spoon of powder to 2 tsp of ro water heatin microwave 20 seconds stir let cool then fill up the syrindge and go to town.You get a 1lb of the stuff for about $3.00 will last forever just don't overdo it .You'll change the PH

Alge.......sounds good, but what's the purpose of heating the mix ???

i have had superb luck with joe's juice. Melts them totally in about 5 minutes with all the pumps off. didnt throw my params like hydroxides will.

I use to inject using the a hypodermic needle but now I just use thick pickling lime paste and the small turkey baster looking thing that comes with test kits and just squirt on top of the aiptasia when it's open usually does the trick

just don't use to much kalk daily because of the increase in ph 1 tsp on a 90G daily Ive been using so far with no problem

Why not just get some peppermint shrimp? We had an outbreak one time and put peppermint shrimp in our tank. Took care of them in a week or so!!

+1. They have always worked for me, if they are hungry enough. I also found them to be pickey eaters though-once the Aiptasia is gone, they wither away and die...

my peppermints will even eat the pellet food!

chick reefer..:rollface::rollface: morning..

that's good to hear on the pepps as I have on order a 5 pk from Saltwaterfish.com and can't wait to see if they will do the job. One ?? thu..what do u think their limit " tolerance" for Nitrate might be in your experience..mine currently is @ 18 PPM (LaMotte) and coming down as I'm currnetly cycling a Sulfur Denitrifyer (a diy) ....your thoughts or for that matter anyone !!!!!

thks

I plan to go out tomorrow, buy a propane torch and cook about 20 of the little suckers on a rock. I would repeat this after I am satisfied and params are stable

Can anyone foresee any catastrophic results
Well...what happened? nuked?

peps are hit and miss, hard to find Atlantic's. Joe's Juice works well, matter of fact I am using it tonight. Cant wait for someone to chime in and say they tried the crack pipe torch, but it wouldn't work under water. :fun2:
