Hello, Geezer coming back to this forum. Paul B

Good Morning. Nothing special happened on my hour long, very dark walk this morning so I didn't take any pictures. I will use a picture from a week ago because that light pole looks exactly the same today. 😁

LOL, I actually did take one home from when I lit up the top of the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan.

I had a couple of extra's.

It is in the top picture here. Thats me on the roof over snow covered Central Park many years ago. It was 17 degrees that day. 🥶

I am in the white helmit in the bottom picture CAD welding in a NYC garbage incinerator

I just ordered parts to build a new diatom filter from scratch. I don't like the ones you could buy as they are not manufactured well and not even available any more. :giggle:

If it works well, I will post a DIY, but if it flops, I will not tell anyone and just go and eat worms.

I’m with you there…btw, upon closer inspection, that light pole looks like it may have a sodium vapor bulb in it…kinda yellow looking on my screen

I received the parts to build my newly designed diatom filter. I won't have time today to do much so maybe tomorrow. It all looks good and "should" work very well and look nice. (I don't like to build ugly stuff)

The filter cartridge is a 30 micron pleated membrane. I picked that one because I figured the one with the smaller pores may not let enough water through and I am counting on the diatom powder doing the work, not the membrane although they do come with one micron pores so you could use that without powder but I feel it will clog easily and not be able to clean as good as the powder which you just dump out.

But I didn't test the one with the one micron pores. The cartridges are cheap so I assume if you don't mind buying them occasionally you could use it without the powder. The one I am using is washable.

This drives me crazy. The "Manufacturer" is only a few miles from my house and it reads on the box
"A Proud American Manufacturer". Under that it reads "Made in China".

You can't be a proud American Manufacturer and build something not from America. The "Majano Wand" is built in Florida but most of the parts come from overseas because they don't make anything here mostly because of PCBs and other things. When I patented the thing most of the parts were made in the US. We don't make any power supplies here any more which is a shame.

When I go near there, I will pay them a visit and express my opinion.

Paul, please post your progress. I'm not very good with DIY projects but I do like to follow them.

Griss, when I start building I will post all the pictures and steps. I think it will be very simple to make the thing work but making it look good will be a little more difficult for someone not into DIY. I will also try to add the simple, not so good looking thing.

I want to see if he uses a bag.
No bag. I hope to start assembly today. I will build 2 configurations. One is simple but doesn't look too great and one that looks like a piece of art work.
(I am an artist, what can I tell you)

But I will initially build the simple one because I think if anyone wants to build this thing, thats the way they will go and it is so simple that your cat could build it. It should cost under $100.00. Maybe a lot under it but I am not sure yet. 😁

No.

I posted the DIY build for this New Diatom Filter in the DIY forum.

Let us know how you like it. I got bugs and I may need one.

Sub, The thing works perfectly. Now I will change some parts on the prototype just so it looks better but for all practical reasons, it is finished. :D

Now I will build a smaller one, just because I can. 😁

My back is still pretty much screwed up and I am going for Sacroiliac shots soon. The ablation may have worked somewhat but that is for the spine, this other pain is still there and worse, but still part of the original problem...I'm old.

You are not old; you are Vintage, like fine wine. 🤗

When the VA replaced my second knee, they gave me an epidermal right where you are hurting now. After surgery, they insertrd a pin in my shoulder blade as a pain blocker, which was removed by my daughter 7 days after returning home.

I don’t know what old is, but my body disagrees.
