Hello, Geezer coming back to this forum. Paul B

I just got back from my walk. I couldn't get to the beach.

FRIENDS.

I want to say something about having great friends. Of course, I have friends on these forums, but I have only met two of you. (SubSea and Humblefish)

Everyone here has been wishing my wife, Dale, good wishes, and I read them to her. She is very grateful and had no idea I even mentioned her on forums, but I don't have much fish stuff to write about, and she is my main priority, especially now.

The majority of our friends we have had for many years, some from grammar school, and they are all calling, especially today, which is her birthday.

Almost every day since she has had this terrible pain, people have been inviting us over for dinner or bringing us food. They know she is having a hard time eating, so much of it is soup. Our neighbor is bringing us dinner tonight, and my other neighbor shoveled all my snow.

Even her 2 neurologists, who we are friends with, keep calling about her and her pain management. Dr. called me 4 times Saturday night during the snow to ask about her. She called me again this morning, even though her office is closed due to snow, to tell me she is taking her in to a surgical center tomorrow to give her another ablation.

The last one didn't work. So far, she has had a nerve block, then a Rhizotomy, then an ablation, then another nerve block, and now another ablation, none of which helped, but there is nothing else they could do. She is also on morphine that doesn't do anything.
Dale is very much well liked. More than me, but that is understandable.

When was the last time a doctor called you on a Saturday night in a blizzard?

I confess I am not friendly with doctors anymore. Many here are posers. I have given 24 (6 four times) tubes of blood to the ghouls and have been told nothing. By 3 doctors in different offices. Went to hematology oncology the other day and she told me she couldn't see the results but started telling me what I don't have. I blew my top a little. You don't go to the doctor for what you don't have. I can name 1000 things I don't have. They took more blood and made me an appointment for a year from now. I suppose I will get the results then.

I hope your wife finds some relief. I am not having much luck.

I got the 2 inches of ice off the car and defrosted it. I think I will go slide around some.

I had a little more than 2" to clear. 🥶

This is near my house where I sometimes collect water. We saw this on the news yesterday and my wife wanted to see it in person, so we drove the 8 minutes to get there. Then I walked through knee high snow to get the shots.

I am waiting for the hospital to call for my wife to come in for another ablation. The place is an hour away.

To get back to what I posted yesterday about friends. Our neighbors brought us a complete 3 course dinner that she cooked. (She is Italian so cooks like us)
Complete with bread and dessert.

Our other neighbor brought my wife a birthday cake, complete with candles.
She ate some of all this but has great difficulty eating now so it took her a couple of hours.

We have been getting calls and well wishes from our friends that over the years moved all over the country from Hawaii through Arizona, North Carolina, Texas and Florida.

We have fantastic friends, they can't do enough for us, especially Dale. I am blown away by the love.

Hopefully, today's procedure will work.

Praying for your wife's procedure and both of your wellbeings!

We just got back from the hospital where my wife had another ablation. For the first time in months, she is pain free. YYYYYyaaaaaaaaaa.

I sincerely want to thank everyone for all the prayers

I hope this lasts.

Wonderful news Paul. I'm so happy it worked.

It was a bit "nippy" at the beach this morning. I wore my ski goggles because the 9 degree wind was biting. 🥶

I love winter walks because it's nice and quiet. No one out, no dogs barking. Nothing but seagulls and me.

I worked outside for much of my career building skyscrapers in Manhattan, so the cold doesn't bother me. This is MAN weather, no Sissies allowed.

If you spent your career at a desk with a heater at your feet and a blanket wrapped around you while you sip hot chocolate, stay home. I don't want to hear you shivering and complaining about how cold you are because the only "warm" clothes you own are cotton "Fruit of the Loom" underwear and some cheap Amazon gloves. 😎

Ha ha, my husband and I volunteer 3 days/week for a ranch that rescues horses and works with at risk children. Of course the horses still need care even when the weather is -14°F like it was yesterday. We filled water troughs in the paddock and mucked stalls 3 mornings this week. Its not for the faint of heart.

We have one of those horse places here but it is for Veterans. They asked me to go there, but besides PTSD I don't think I have any issues. Except of course what people tell me on here.
But if we don't like what folks say about how we run our aquariums, we can just not read it, right?

When my husband retired he wanted something meaningful to be involved in and I had horses growing up, so this seemed like a good fit. And beside, we don't have a beautiful beach nearby since we live in southwestern PA!

I am a little disappointed this morning. They predicted it to be 5 degrees but it is 12. A little too warm for a Manly walk. 😎

It was 5F here in the St. Louis area when I left for work.

You know it's cold when the public aquarium has to bring the penguins inside.
This Aquarium is right near my house. I used to be a volunteer there. But the penguins are cold.
