Hello,

My tank is 30 Inches wide X 30 Inches tall X 96 inches long. About 300 gallons. Would I be able to make a wave with 2 of these being my tank is 8 foot long? My return comes into 4 ports at the top of the tank for about 4,000 gallons an hour and I am using 4 large hydro on the back wall as well. I am running a mag 18 pushing water behind the rocks. What I am looking for is a lot of water movement and perhaps pull the hydro's out because of noise.

Hello Randall-

For a 300 gallon tank that is 8' long I would expect it to take at least three pumps to generate a wave, however I have not experimented with waves on a tank this long yet.

If your goal is to use the VorTech combined with your return pump to provide complete flow, I would recommend anywhere from four to six MP40w's to create the most flow options. With four pumps I would put two on each end if your goal is to create a wave. If you want more even flow, I would put one on each end and two along the back wall.
