I have used bags of ice to rapidly cool the temp, make sure the water that is melting doesnt get in your tank!

Wow....amazing...

I guess the worst part is over. It's 3:00 A.M.

I really thought that this was a club and everyone helped each other. I had a major problem this eve...I would have given all of my coral away if someone would have just helped. Instead, I lost 90% = approx. $2000.00-$3000.00 I had 2 calls from people to help and neither of them would take a dime to help.
They will both be rewarded greatly. I have an extra Aqua Controller and ASM g3 that will go to good use for them. That is sooooooo incredibly sad. It wasn't two weeks ago that I posted corals for trade and I literally gave them away to share with others. If this is the way your club works,

I'M OUT

Sorry for your loss. I had the same thing happen in my nano-cube last year and lost everything but the fish.

By the way, I've found the STL folks to be very helpful. However, there are a lot of people who are asleep between 11PM and 3AM so you probably won't get a lot of responses regardless of the problem. If you had posted at 7PM I'll bet you would have had a line of people outside your door wanting to help.

If you start the tank up again let me know. I'd be happy to give you some free frags to get things going again.

yeah Joe, really a major bummer. I have to get up really early for work, so I was in bed an hour and a half before you posted, otherwise I would have tried to help as well. I could have housed some stuff for you as well, and I had a couple of buckets of RO/DI sitting at home not doing anything yet. Sorry again. :(

Question though, I'm wondering, I see you mention a controller in your post. Did you have the heater on the controller, and if so, shouldn't it have cut off power to the heater in this case? I'm just wondering because that's how I have mine set up and I certainly hope that's the way it works. One of the reasons why I got a controller.

Sorry for your losses! I too would have been happy to help but since I start work at 5:30am I was well on my way to dream land by 11pm. I hope this morning is better than last night, if there is anything you need please let me know.

Tom

I have a 75g with water only in it and MH lights over it. We just moved everything out of the tank to put it in a new larger one. I could have taken a lot of your stuff just to save it for you and give back later. We go to bed at 9PM.

If you still need help today let me know. 314-779-7408

I am so sorry for your loss and frustration with the group. I am sure it was the late time and not a lack of caring that prevented more help from arriving at your door. I don't have very interesting corals, but you can have a piece of anything from my tank.

I would have been there to help but I go to sleep way before 11pm during the week. I get up at 5am. Really sorry for your loss. If you need anything this morning let us know. I am sure we as a club will try to help in any way we can.

I really get frustrated when people get this way. I dont think you should feel like people only use each other in this club for free frags. I know whenever I post a problem or issue it can take hours for a response and that is during the day when people a awake and computers are on. I really dont think you should be as angry as you seem with the club and the people who are a part of it.

I thank the people who helped you.

I am sorry I wasnt awake to help you becasue if i was I would have come. I always have my cooler in the car.

Well, we would have had to drink up all the beer that's always in that cooler in your car, but that would have been ok. ;)

I too, would have been there to help....however getting up at 530 this morning I was already snoozing by then. Sorry for your loss. If theres anything I can do to help, I will certainly try.

Kelly

you gotta realize people don't sit and refresh this board all day or all night.

but i understand your frustration and am personally sorry i didn't see your message until today.
let us know what you lost and maybe we can help you rebuilt.

I'm sorry for your losses. Unfortunately, I didn't see this thread until 1 minute ago. Otherwise, I would have done my best to help last night.

I've seen many people in SEASL do amazing things for others. Please don't alienate them due to frustration. We're all in this together.

Sorry for your losses! Sleeping myself by 9 to 9:30. 5 AM just comes too early! Let us know how things are today.

Willing to help you out with some frags to get you going again!

Joe,
We all understand what a nightmare this has been for you, and the frustration and anger you must feel. Please let us know how we can help now that we are awake and aware of your trouble.

I know of no one in this club or any other club who wouldn't be willing to lend a hand or few frags or whatever you need. This is a very giving group.

You can count on a pair of replacement clownfish from me if you want them.

Kathy

Hey all, First I want to apologize for being an a$$. It was a long, long night, and I was out of line. I have had nothing but people bending over backwards to help and I can't even tell you how much I appreciate it. I was up until nearly 7:00 a.m. Had 2 hrs sleep, and back at it.

The bad news...list of survivors so far...most mushrooms, yellow polyps, basically all of the really cheap stuff that I got as a beginner :( , most zoos, yellow goby, two green chromis, yellow tang, blue faced angel (thank the higher powers), both clowns, most snails...oh yeah, one majano that I have tried to kill for months...go figure.

Losses: Every SPS...approx 20...of which none were even close to frag size, both clams, three brains, neon green sinularia, HUGE feather duster...actually every single duster that I can see, xenia & colt (hate to say, oh well), 3 y/o mandarin, lemon peel angel, coral beauty, 2 firefish, 1 yellow goby, 2 RBTA, most hermits, 2 cleaner shrimp, 6 emeralds, very cool orange 6 legged star, orange plate, 2 leathers, all monti (orange, green, and rare purple), all starburst polyp (3 species...5 total), all rics, HUGE purple hairy mushroom, 2 candy cane, orange gorgonia, blue ball sponge, seabae anenome, long tentacle anenome, 2 firefish, neon blue goby, one piece of crap 300wt Rena heater and 1 1/2 5 gallon buckets of salt.

That pretty well covers it until tomorrow morn when I check it. I cancelled a business trip, and am trying to save what I can still. I am buying an Aqua Pro III to eliminate any future problems. This is going to be hard to bounce back from. I actually feel bad for being an irresponsible reefer and being the cause of so much death to these poor critters because I got a little too comfortable with my system. I will not ever make that mistake again.

Thank you all so much for all of your concern and help. I'll be seeing you at Chad's quite a bit over the next year, so stock up Chad!!!

Glad to hear you had at least some survivors. A good lesson for everyone to learn from, just sorry was so costly for you.
