Help adjusting a cadlights skimmer

I have decided to hook up the skimmer that came with my 39g cadlights, but for some reason I can't get it to work. It just keeps overflowing on me. I have tried turning the valve, but it doesn't seem to lower the water level in the skimmer. Everytime I plug in the pump the water level just keeps rising until it overflows the cup.

Anyone have one of these set up and willing to talk me through it?

But I am not sure how high up into the neck the bubbles should reach? Right now they are about half way. I realize the skimmer needs to break in for a few days before I will get good skimming.


Anyone?

I guess if I just keep trying I will have this skimmer figured out without any replies. I managed to adjust it so that the bubbles are just barely reaching the bottom of the neck. This looks about right compared to photos I have seen of other skimmers in operation.

Now I just have to figure out how to get rid of all the microbubbles in my display.
