Help and Advice

Hey Roger,

My alarm was going off for the wave box and I figured that it needed an acid bath. Well I was quite shocked when I saw the propellar broken off of the drive shaft. Is this common? I recently added a wave box extension that I got at Macna after the box sat in the garage for months! I only used it for 3-4 days this month before the alarm went off. How can I get a new drive shaft?

Thanks

Ryan

Did you have the screen on? The usual cause is a snail getting in if the screen isn't used. The new part is 6200.70.

Hey Roger,

So I finally got around to purchasing the part and received it in the mail. The part is now modified with a flanged base that I can't fit into the power head. As you know, there is no loneger the bearing disc and brake shoe design. This new design also has a small circular base with a red rubber washer. I couldn't fit this down the powerhead because there is something deep down the hole that prevents the piece from fitting down and flush. I left it off of the propellar. I also took the flange off. I placed the shaft down the hole. This fit nice and snug. I powered up the wave box, it churned a couple of times and now the alert is sounding. Do you have any pdf of how this new propellar should be installed?

Not sure if I explained this too well?

The piece deep in the hole is the circular base and washer from your other pump. Look at the top thread on cleaning the pump, this may be of some help for photos, be sure you remove all the parts including the old upper bearing with oring and the bush bearing which is the collar around the hole. The manual shows how.

Sorry to keep bugging you Roger, but I cant run the pumps without the alarm going off. So I soaked the pumps in acetic acid over night, rinsed and scraped out the remaining calcium build up. I placed the lower bearing back in the pump with the O ring and slipped the magnet back into the hole.

The pump housing was reassembled and I turned the pump on and the alarm sound:mad2: . I took the pumps out and re-examined the set up and every thing looks A-Ok. There is no calcium inside or around the magnet to cause any resistance.

What other advice do you have? This is occuring on both the wave box and one of my streams. I am absolutely positive that it has been reassembled correctly. There is no sediment in the upper internal bearing while the magnetic rotor internal channel is also clear.

I'm stumped.:(

Well after tinkering with the stream I was able to get it to fire and work consistently. THe 6001 propeller was too flush into the pump housing. After pulling it out a bit and not pushing it down, then firing it up, it works like new.

The wavebox on the other hand has been a big frustration. I can get it to fire about 5-6 times and then the propeller gets stuck. This is the 6200.70 replacement part that I purchased. I did pull out the old lower bearing and replaced, although I'm not sure that that really matters. (newer plastic vs older plastic without wear).

Any ideas? I'm ready to drive down to Austin:rolleyes: .

Yes it is. I should say, as much as I can be certain that it is. I placed it around the base of the lower bearing and inserted it O ring down into the pump.

Again, this is the wave box that the propellar cracked off and was replaced.

I think at this point it would be best to send the pump with the drive unit for repair. I might be able to help more if you had a couple photos of the drive unit outside the pump and installed.

I can take pictures for you. At this point, I'd love to get it taken care of and I think I may end up sending it to you, however, if there is something "missing" I'd hate to send it over something small and trivial. I'll post pictures up comming.

Well Roger, the magnet isn't cracked as discussed at MACNA.

I think that I need to send it to you. PM me or reply to give me further advice.

So I was pulling the wave box out to get it shipped and I decided to check it out. Well it ran for about 5 minutes and then failed.

Do you need the box as well?

Well Roger, Thanks for the help. I got it back in my tank and the alarm is still sounding!!!

I am comming down to Austin for a conference on Tuesday. Can I just bring all of the hardware and check it out with you? I leave Tuesday morning. Did the alarm sound with you? Anyway, questions/answers are irrelevent nevertheless the damn thing doesn't work. Please advise.

It didn't alarm once, I ran it for several hours. Go ahead and stop by. I am short staffed as everyone got the cold except me. Call first to be sure I am here- 512-833-7546.

???? No alarm?

Wow that really is frustrating. Maybe we'll solve the problem. I will be in Austin all week, so what ever will work best for you. I'll call you.

Thanks again.
