HELP---Anemone cut in half

Two days ago my BTA went missing in my tank. Somehow it had climbed up and went over and into the back of my overflow box. When I found him, I thought it was dead by the way it was shrivled up. I gently put it back in the tank on a rock and left it alone to give it a chance.. Today I was checking everything in my sump/refugium and saw another anemone on the side of my sump where the water drains from the overflow tube. My poor anemone had been sliced in half somehow and part of it had gone thru the overflow tube into the sump. i really don't know what to do to help this poor lil anemone heal. THe clown fish is hosting both parts of it. Has this ever happened to anyone else? What can I do to help it heal? Will both halfs survive?P lease any advice is appreciated. I am sending some pics I just took of it. Thank you.

Looks like a natural BTA division, quite common. In my experience they tend to roam around a bit after a division which could explain finding them in interesting locations.

fwiw: wait a week or so before trying to feed them, may sure they water is in good shape, and make sure the clown is not to abusive at this point.

Good luck.

Scott, Thank you for your reply. I guess I haven't done enough research because I had no idea that they would naturally divide. Will it hurt to keep both of them in the same tank? I will wait to feed them and do another check on my water this afternoon. Thanks again.

Yep, looks like normal split.
Very common w/ BTA's, especially when stressed like when adding to new tank/water params, or even over feeding can make them split.

Keep an eye on your maroon as well. He/she looks calm in that picture, but can stress out smaller BTA's pretty easy. As they heal, they might need a bit of protection if the maroon turns aggressive with the love. ;)
