Good, I'm glad you took that the right way. Stopping the ph buffering is going to lower the alk levels, don't chase Ph, it rises and falls throughout the day. Looking at my graph on reeftronics dot com under sisterlimonpot, my Ph fluctuates from 8.14 to 8.32 throughout the day. If I tried to keep it at 8.3, I would go nuts.
I'm sure you heard it before, in this hobby nothing good comes from going fast, slow and steady wins the race. And of course the key to a successful reef is stability. This site is full of very knowledgeable people that are willing to help, all you have to do is ask.
