My lemon peel and velvet damsel keep picking on my soft corals. I need to get my Velvet Damsel and my lemon peel out of my tank. If anyone has a fishtrap I can borrow..It would be so great! Or if anyone can give me some ideas or advices of how to get them without using a fishtrap..that would be great too. My tank are full of rocks and corals (pic below) that it is impossible to catch them with a net. HELP!!!Thanks.

hmm, fish trap may be the only way... or at night you may be able to net them easily with red light as your only guide.

i heard people putting a glass jar in the middle and putting food in. you would probably have to wait a day for them to get use to it. then when you see it in there use a net or your hand to cover the hole and pull the jar out. that should work. i have a cpr refugium that i use to catch my clown fish when i need to get them out. the container has too be clear so they don't notice it. and i shut my light off and slowly move them into the container and just lift the container out. i like the cpr refugiem cuz it has hole all around so i just end up getting a little water out of my tank. hope that helps good luck

I'd do the at night with a red light, while they're sleeping.. typically the fish a timer inside them that tells them before the lights go off to find their sleeping spot... Just ID their typicall sleeping spot.. usuall a couple only... stake it out.. and nab em... I've caught numerous fish that way... or the hard way.... DRAIN and catch ( which I woundn't suggest to anyone..it really hurts your back ) LOL

If you don't mind the drive out to Oakley (and a promise to return the trap), you can borrow our small one. It hasn't failed us yet.

Or if you want to wait, we will be in Walnut Creek next Thursday morning at 8 AM for a Dr's appt and can possibly meet us near hte Dr's office afterwards.

Shoot me a PM and let me know.

Hey, Thanks everyone for your advices and suggestions.

Tom,

Thank you, I promise I will return the trap. I work in SF everyday so I can't meet you on Thrusday morning but I will PM you for your number. I will drive to Oakley to pick the trap up on one of the weekend and return it the next following weekend. Is that alright with you? . P.S If you intersted in the fish (it is in the pic of the top), let me know. Thanks Tom.

I would need to research the lemon peel, but we already have a dwark angel, and lots of LPS, SPS, zoas and clams, so I don't know how compatible they are with those corals. On the up note we don't have any softies, if that is all it nips at.

I see that your sig indicates that you have a crocea clam, so the lemon peel leaves it alone ?

I am tying up some loose ends here then I will shoot you a POM with our #. I thought you had been out here before though ? Unless I am just off my rocker :)

Yes, I've been to your place before when I bought your flamehawk.

This lemon peel doesn't bother my clam at all. It does nipping on my frogspawn though. I haven't see it nipping on other corals except the frogspawn.

ahhh, ok, now I remember :)

I think that we will pass on the lemon peel though. We already have a golden pygmy angel and the lemon peel is also a pygmy, so we don't want to tempt fate and risk it :). I am sure that you will find someone who can give it a good home, they are beautiful fish.

Speaking of fish, how is that flamehawk doing ? :)
