hELP FEEDING lYRETAIL ANTHIAS

Hello everyone.. I purchased 5 females and 1 male on my birthday Feb 22. 1 female died immediately but the others are doin fine. Ive tried cyclopeeze to no avail. I defrost a cube of mysis with the live brine and thats the only way that theyll accidentally eat anything that isnt live brine.. If i give em mysis on its own they wont touch it.. What can I do?? Thanks for your help

Hmm, that is a bit strange. I have a school of squampinnis and they will eat anything - and have done since the day I introduced them. Are you sure you have squampinnis?

Otherwise, if it is possible, continue to feed live brine and mix in other frozen foods. Perhaps over time they will take more frozen. Also, try putting a chunk of frozen mysis into a clip on the glass to see if they will take it that way.

The other food you can try is frozen chopped squid.

See if any of your local stores have Sweetwater Zooplankton. You can usually get Anthias species to start feeding with this stuff.

Mine eat anything. I feed them my usual mix of brine, baby brine, mysid, flake and pellet all soaked in selcon and they go mad for it.

I agree with Nexdog, my Lyretail male eats anything I put in the tank.

Thanx for the feedback... I do have sweetwater zoo but he tried it once and never touched it again..none of my fish like the zoo too much I guess.

Tank has been up for a while. I put in my first coral last weekend, I allowed a long time to stabilize. I will start a thread soon to document what I did and how it works. BTW your tank is looking outstanding.

Get the food moving in the water current- a lot of Anthias won't eat foods that aren't moving.
You might need to increase circulation in your aquarium.

Thanx for the help.... Ive been away for a while but the Anthias are eating frozen foods thank god... My friend gave me a pink square anthias male and now Im trying to get him to feed.. His colors are faded or maybe its changing from she to he... Arte squarebacks easier to feed?

Needing new help. I purchased 4 Tiger Queen anthias at my LFS after reading scott michaels book. the book stated that they were semi hardy and not difficult to get feeding. Now ive got one left and she aint eating. Ive tried live brine,mysis,etc. But once all the fish eat she hides.. Please help me...Thanks
