help - fish not doing well - pics inside

First off I am sorry I know this is for tropical fish but this is a slight emergency... so in sake of saving the fish I was hoping I could get some help here..

My GF has two goldfish which seem to be sick and not doing so well. The red spots you see in these pics were never there before today.. Anyone know what it may be and how to treat it? Is it some kind of rash or maybe a parasite??

Most likely a batrial infection, treat with antibiotcs and hopefully they will recover. Do a water change first.

There are several good freshwater antibiotics. Choose what's called a broad-spectrum antibiotic, so as to get a wide range of applications, and follow directions. This is one time when Petco or Petsmart may offer a perfectly good selection.

Remove any carbon filtration before treating: carbon uptakes some medications. Follow the full course of treatment.
