[Help] -- Getting Yasha Goby to eat

I've tried the standard frozen foods, pellets, I've tried Blackworms and Live Brine -- He won't take a nibble from anything.

He's in QT with a Bangaii Cardinal, who will nibble at some food, but typically doesn't eat his fill. Just a couple blackworms, a single pellet, etc etc. Glad he's eating but he's not wolfing it down.

Do you have some sand in the tank and maybe some pvc . They like to feel secure before rising up to snag some food . How tall is the Qt tank if its to shallow maybe not enough time for food to suspend above goby. I tried 10 gal before but switched to 20 tall and put in air stone to recirculate the food . Probably need to enrich the live brine with selcon or maybe with some refrigerated algae . Sometimes the gobies come in so thin that they are weak and do not do well

I've read lots of praise about Nutramar Ova for picky eaters, which is back out. Would that be of any help? Larry's also makes a fish egg product that would be comparable.

I'd try nutramar ova. if you can't get anymore lmk, I have a few packs frozen

also maybe add more hiding places. pack it so you can't see the goby at all times. it's going to require cleaning, but they like to hide

No sand.. I was thinking of scooping up some sand into a little tupperware jar and putting some super small PVC in there. I'm a little worried it may promote ich if there is some and I missed symptoms (Both fish appear 100% healthy)

Thanks for the info -- The tank is a 10g leader, there was PVC but he's so tiny he'd rather hide behind it. I switched from a Biocube to a standard 10g, it's all I have room for on my desk. I've since added a terra-cotta pot and some terra-cotta lids. I've affixed 1/2" flex tube which he will fit in easily and feel more secure, but he prefers to hide in the corner with the terra-cotta pot.

The Yasha is *very* thin, which is why I'm working to get him something he'll eat.

The cardinal also likes to hide between the pot and the glass wall. These guys are the most skittish fish I've had. The cardinal hides behind that pot and slowly pokes his nose out in the evening. If he catches me looking at him (Right now) he goes back quickly.

Here's a pic to show how tiny the goby is

The cardinal isn't exactly a giant either

Earlier today I fed blackworms and the Cardinal took a few, a few floated behind the pot the Yasha calls home. I didn't see him eat one, but I saw him come out chomping his mouth.. So I'm hopeful he took a worm and then turned around to face me.

Thanks you two, both great points. I'll definitely add a few more hiding spots for the goby just in case. He's small enough to fit in a 1/2" OD tube, or like a 1" connection Tee. He's definitely a little dude.

Picture again

I'll let you know if I end up unable to find anything he'll chomp on Tony -- May have to hit you up on that offer!
