Help Green Star Polyps

We were re-arranging our tank and our green star polyps fell and scrapped along some of the other rock. They were all out and open at the time.

NOW (for the past week - maybe two) 50% of them seem OK, but the rest are covered w/ some brown "algae looking film" stuff... kind of stringy or hair-like...

Is that something that anyone has heard of before w/ green star polyps?? Having this 'film' over them? Is that something that happens when they get injured?? Should we pull the film / stringy stuff off?

Thanks for any help.

Cyano ... yes

Cyano ... yes

Yes I guess is cyano or "red slime" algae. Now the question is ... how can I get rid of it? :hammer: :uzi:

Can I save my green star still? :sad2:

Syphon or turkey blast, also if you have cyano you might want to do a wc,get a better flow(dead spot) in that area.

looks like red slime to me also clena them off and the best thing I know to lill it is a product called RED Slime Remover it works very well is actually an antibiotic and kills it very quickly but once you have killed it you need to watch your nutrient levels more closely usually something is a little out of whack for it to start

I want to tanks everybody ... Our Star polyps are back and growing.

We took it out and clean it after that we treat the tank with red slim remover and water changes.

Now everybody is happy take a look:

exactly what does Shibumi mean...out of curiosity? I see a boat out while im sailingcalled Shimbumi also. Beautiful red shrooms by the way!

The word "shibumi" is a Japanese term that means 'eloquent silence', "Effortless Perfection".

It can also mean 'understated beauty' or 'great refinement underlying commonplace appearances'.

We have a boat called Shibumi but the sailor you talk about I believe is this one:

In search of Shibumi

and Thanks ;)

Well..I race in Tampa Bay out of St. Pete..and sometimes Davis Island and see a boat (a J-29 I believe)..called Shibumi..is that you?

Nop is not ours. Ours is not a sailing boat ... I like them but we don't have one.

And with this hobby I don't think we can get one :p
