"help Help Help!!!"

Yeah. Travis, I am with you on this thread... I too feel the same way about all these help threads. I guess we're just an uber, super lucky bunch :p

Good for you. But unfortunately there are those that don't do their research and buy one and end up killing it. Those are just the people on this forum. Think about all the other people that aren't apart of this forum that end up killing their BTAs without asking for help.

But most importantly, all the help questions help save other anemones. Members read the threads and learn what to avoid and what to do. I know its helped me. Thats for sure. So in away, I am sure more anemones are saved or at least helped in some way.

I agree.. the people that don't bother with the research should second guess this hobby. It requires a ton of research, it's neverending. If you can't dedicate your time to doing that.. then I dunno... I guess it's a little annoying to the rest of us when all's it takes is a little reading, and your set.. sometimes that's not ALWAYS the case, but you get my point. Then as soon as something goes wrong, HELP! Not trying to sound rude...

Cheers.

Your not being rude at all. Your saying straight up what the facts are. I agree, there are so many impulse buyers out there and don't think twice before they buy. Its quite sad to see a perfect animal die. I even took the long way. I still havn't purchased a BTA yet bc I want the best for it. I am experimenting with a Condy Anemone and a Tube Anemone. Those are pretty easy to care for. I think I have mastered those anemones by now. Now its time for a BTA. It should be cake now that I know how to take care of one.

When I bought my Condy it was all bleached out. Now look at it. 10 times better.

GREAT WATER QUALITY AND LIGHTING = GREAT BTA, it is as simple as that

That for most ,unfortunately, is only half the battle. Getting a healthy individual and becoming familiar with health, warning signs, and longevity are the other half.

I actually consider myself extremely lucky. I purchased my anemone nearly 11 years ago, just after a year or so of being in the hobby (though I don't really recommend doing that). It settled in immediately, stung some things, and did just fine. About 8 months later, it spawned for the first time (the first of many HUGE spawns :mad2: ) and I found that I had a lovely female. I have had close calls (but those involved freak accidents, such as heater malfunction and hurricanes), but she survived them all and only got larger. She reaches roughly 20-24" (depending upon the day) now, so I can't really complain.

Yeah...how is this SPAM?

We are talking about hobbiests that are to damn lazy to open a book and/or do other proper research before they by an Anemone. There wouldn't be AS many "HELP" threads if there wasn't so many Anemone impulse buyers.

soo ur saying if u do lots of research then u can make sure ur anemone will be 110 percent perfect all the time without having questions to ask?

"Without haveing questions to ask", yes and no.

You see, you can do all the research in the world, but they dosn't mean you know or in some cases remember everything. It is good to ask questions and for help, but only when the information you are seeking is not readily available to you. But for most of the time, people post a "help me" topic for a sittiation that could have been easily avoided had the person done research before hand, questions such as "Why is my anemone deflated? I have him under a Coralife 20w PC Screw in bulb, is that enough light?". Stuff like that is what tees me off. But when the "help me" post is about somthing such as "Why is my Anemone dieing? I have the right lighting and water quality. My other Anemones are doing fine". That "help me" post is worth posting.

Basicaly, why post a "help me" post when the information you need is right at your finger tips? Where as if it is a "help me" post where the information is not easly obtained or unheard of, that "help me" post is good and needs to be posted for the sake of the Anemone.

This thread realy dosn't only apply to Anemones by any means. I think this thread pertains to the hobby in general.

Remember, it's not about a persons ego, it's about the health of the creature.

Here is mine:

This is a female Heteractis crispa (one of the 'sebae' anemones). She is roughly 24" (size is variable--sometimes a bit more, sometimes less). She has been in my care for roughly 11 years.

There are a few other pics in my gallery--and fairly recent anemone spawn pics, if you like.
