Hello everyone,

I'm fairly new to the hobby, and have been searching for a tank. Either new or pre owned and I stumbled across the following description. Wanted to get some insight before purchasing to ensure the deal was good or at least decent. It seems like 2 different setups, but I'm really only interested in the 35 rimless setup. Maybe someone could point out what I would need for that setup.

Nanocube 24 with stand and power compact lights. No pump. No leaks but needs a little silicone work on the internal filter dividers.
Buckeye Hydro Premium RODI system 75GPD with triple inline TDS meter, DI bypass and manual flush. Made less than 100 gallons.
Magnum 350 Canister Filter. Used a few times for water polishing.
Milwaukee MA887 Seawater Digital Refractometer
ATC Refractometer
Miscellaneous items such as two buckets, two Deep Blue 5 gallon water containers, 60% full bucket of Instant Ocean Sea salt etc.

I would get the biggest tank possible. If you buy a used one have them fill it with water first to check for leaks. That's a lot of stuff for 550. It's such a big discount I would make sure it's not broken stuff. The jaebo is obviously not in good condition so what else is broke.

Ditch the canister if you can

Seems too good to be true but sometimes you get lucky

I'd personally go for something bigger and more customizable

I'd recommend a larger tank for your first tank if possible. More water volume means more margin for error as you learn about water chemistry and how to control it.

Don't let the above posts scare you off. It looks like a nice set up. The canister filter isn't something you'll want to use long run, but for now it's OK to use. Just know that it needs regular cleaning.

Most of us started with smaller tanks than we have now. Especially those of us who didn't really know what we were getting into and/or didn't have friends who sucked us into the hobby. I started with a 30g tank for a few years and it was fun, but I wanted more. You may be happy with yours, or you may get addicted and want to go bigger. But you can learn a lot while you work with this one.

Just remember, go slow! I can't emphasize that enough. The old saying around the hobby is,"Nothing good happens quickly in an aquarium!" Believe it! And there are no stupid questions. Most of us were stupid about aquariums at the start as well. People here will help. And if you search you'll find many threads that already address many of your questions. There are lots and lots of articles here that offer great authoritative answers rather than opinions. And finding a local club and getting active in it can be a HUGE help.

You could manage a couple of the small species clowns and an anemone, or a small softie reef, plus the smallest gobies and blennies or wrasses. It won't be appropriate for tangs, angels, rabbits, etc. The price including the rodi and refractometer is not bad.

It's a nice looking setup. It'll definitely carry you through most stages of the hobby, and comes with almost everything you'd ever need, but certainly enough for a while.

Also, *** with that title. I'm surprised nobody said something and mods didn't change it. It sounds like you are being robbed or your house is on fire and you need immediate assistance. This is a forum, not 9-1-1..

Be a little more descriptive and a little less dramatic in the future please.
