Help in the flow department

Hi everyone. In my 75 gal tank I have an mp40 on the left close to the front glass. On the right side a wp25 that is next to the back glass.

I recently switched from short pulse at 100% to lagoon mode at about 75%

The wp is running else mode at 100%. Return is a mag 5 that also feeds a fuge. Is there anything obvious I should be doing differently?

Forgive the dark side of the current tank. My other fixture should be here early next week.

First of all you're doing nothing wrong. If what you're asking is the ideal flow layout for SPS in a 75 gallon tank would be there may be different setups that work and boil down to opinion.

After endless tinkering in my 75 gallon, with the same two pumps you have actually, I've discovered that putting them both on the right side of my tank has yielded best results. I have the mp40 on the right side slightly toward the front of the glass. And I have the wp25 slightly higher than the vortech and closer to the back glass. It seems that the wp25 does a better job at getting the last two feet on the opposite side of the tank while the vortech is best with the first two. I run the wp25 on full else mode and vortech on full reef rest mode and am pleased with the amount of flow I have and lack of dead spots. I have two islands for my layout though, so that may factor into the equation.

The flow Guru who writes for several mags has suggested placing a pump centered on each end about a third of the way down from top then running them on a long enough pulse to get a gyre flow started and maintain for a few minutes then switch. Actually getting a circular flow going around the tank. I started doing this about a month ago and it looks promising. The sand bed stays much cleaner and corals seem happier. no real growth change yet but seems I was always fighting a little brown growth on the sand and it seems to have cleared up with no other changes. No proof yet but take it for what its worth. I suppose if you had a really wide tank you may have to use two on each end?

I'm very interested in this method, but don't have the controller to pull it off. I'm on some wait list or something for the new gyre flow device from maxspect. Can't wait for that thing to be released
