Coral banded shrimp are for the most part nocturnal creatures. Your best bet is to catch them at night. I have had success in using a smooth cylinder fish trap and with a little patience and some bait, they will enter the tube where you can pull the lid closed. The problem is that you will get every other crab/shrimp/etc. in your tank before the coral bandeds come out. They are pretty shy so be prepared for a late night camp out.
They pretty much scavenge, so anything dead and nasty smelling should do the trick. If its being that stubborn - any chance with a couple nets to get him at least out of the rocks?
I tried lots of things to get my CB shrimp. Traps didn't work for me. I finally resorted to taking all of my LR out of my tank...luckily I only got half of it out before the CB was net-able. Still it was a MAJOR PITA. Very glad to have him out though, he was attacking my perching fish. Killed a blenny and a mandarin.
Can't get a net in because he goes underneath my support trays and I have no access to that area at all. Really don't want to remove my live rock but it maybe time for some new aqua scaping :0
ps. im trying to get him out because he continously kills all my cleaner shrimps...
