Help me decide on a used purchase

GO COLTS!!
I have been reading up on tunze pumps and believe this is the path I have decided to take for my 180. I am planning on turning this into a reef tank but only have a few frags now. I have found a set of 2 Tunze Turbelle Stream 6100 pumps and a 7095 controller sold as a package. 1st off, would this be a good combo to use on a 6ft long 180. Secondly I have tried to learn to decipher the number codes for the tunzes but haven't had any luck. Can someone tell me what to look for in the numbers on the transformers or drivers to know exactly what pump and what GPH I will be getting. I have asked the seller to get back with me and tell me the numbers that are on the transformers. Is there anything else that I should ask them to supply me with to help me make a good decision about these pumps? Thanks in advance for the help!

Ok, I got the numbers from the transformers they are
Art.Nr.7410.602A and Art.Nr.7210.202A. I am going to contact them again and try to get any of the markings on the pumps and the drivers as well. If this tells anyone anything would you please fill me in and help me make my decision!

Ok, got the rest of the info. The pumps have 6100.10 on them and the drivers are both 7240.27. If someone can give me an idea of the flow I am looking at and if this will be a good setup for my 180 I would really appreciate it!!

One is a 6100 and one is a 6000, the 6100 does about 3200gph at full power, the 6000 does about 1800gph. Ideally I would get 2 new 6105 for the following reasons.

These older pumps have minimum repair ability, none of the major electrical components are still in production, unless you are getting a heck of a deal, you will end up paying a lot more if and when they fail. This series of pumps was discontinued in mid 2007, they are at a minimum nearing 4 years old.

You really need 2 6100 or 6105 for a tank of this size.

yes i would go with new rather then old because you dont know how long they will last they might last awhile but on the other hand they might only last a month and you will be buying new anyway it might be more for starting but in the long run it will save

Thanks for the replies. I was told that they were both 6100's so that is why I wanted to post on here to find out from someone who knows. I have found this whole setup for less than 325 bucks, and feel that it is definitely a good price but who knows how long it will last. What would I have to do to make them both a 6100, only update the one transformer to a 7410.602A?

That is all you would need, but they are not available new anymore and I don't have any used at this time.

Well live and learn...I should have looked deeper here before I bought used equipment but I am stuck with a pair of used 6000`s and a 7095 controller. What I need though is some mounting equipment for them. the seller had glued a round tunze magnet to one of them rated for up to .74 in. glass but it wont hold on my 220 gallon tank. I have searched and saw a magnet holder that went up to like .98 in. glass but the only ones I can find on premium aquatics and other places go up to the .74. Any suggestions?

If they are glued on that may be difficult, it might be best to work with what you have and mount them to the overflow box or a thinner wall. Magnet 6205.500 would work for up to 1", but it would also have to be glued on, it was not made for these older pumps.
