Help me revive my tank and color up my SPS

Try t5 lights before adjusting anything else...

He needs to just let his tank go for a for a couple months with the proper parameters and see if he's happy with the results. Though I do agree to a certain point that Kessils have some limitations with SPS.

So I've been doing water changes with water that has a higher salt content, but it's not making much of a difference.

What if I simply shut my ATO off and daily I top off with saltwater and check the difference? Is that too much of a change too quickly (obviously it depends on evaporation rate and the salinity of the new water.) Id say evaporate about .75 gallons a day and the saltwater I'd be using to replace is about 1.029 sg.

If it's simple enough for you, just keep your ato going and top off with saltwater instead. If it won't cause you skimmer to overflow, you can just manually add some gallons of saltwater every day and keep your ato as is.

Also remember there is a balance between calcium/alkalinity.

Yes, and keeping it balanced doesn't seem to mean much in regards to color and coral health. Set your alkalinity where you want it, and keep your calcium above 400ppm and below 550ppm and you'll see about the same results.

Same as most posts above. You need to have some phosphates and nitrates. True zero is not good. And you are dosing to much vinager.

No messing with parameters. Fix the lighting first. Yes after that let the tank go for months before making other changes.

Lighting stays for now. I'll ride this horse until it's dead. A change in lighting isn't really in the budget at the moment. If I were to change I'd be likely to try adding a fixture or trying a Radion unit.

MH is a total no for me. I had an 8 bulb ATI Powermodule over an old system (which at the time I sold off for AI Sols, not smart.) The Powermodule was definitely the best light I've ever used for these purposes, verdict is still out on the Kessil.
