So I got a tube anemone from my LFS and it was in a good condition with its wrinkly tube on. I put it on my rocks, thinking it would stay there, but to my surprise it has left its tube and has moved in a sand bed between 2 rocks in my tank.

As of now it has been only 3 days since it has happened, but it is looking fine and fully open with all its tentacles open. Its tube is elongated most of the way. I have been spot feeding it invertebrate food and has been gladly eating it.

I was jut wondering, how long with this wrinkly tube take to grow back ?
Can I move the anemone around in a more visible spot ?

There is a picture attached for reference.

Thank you.

First of all: this is a sand and mud dwelling "anemone" (it actually isn't a true anemone), so it will not stay on the rocks without some trickery. You take a liter soda bottle, cut off the top, fill it with sand and "plant" the anemone in it and then place it in the rocks where you like it. You should probably drill a few holes into the bottom of the bottle to allow some water circulation so that no black zones develop.
But generally these animals do best on a deep sand bed in a low light tank.
They also do not like strong turbulent flow but rather prefer a steady lower level laminar flow.

In general they are best in a specialized sand zone tank with just actinic light.
Ideal tank mates would be feather duster worms and non-photosynthetic corals.
