Help!! My fiance used a scotch brite sponge on the inside of my tank!

It probably depends how big your tank is. A small tank it will probably be severely damaging a larger tank may withstand. I personally would do a big water change and follow up with several small ones in the coming weeks. My girlfriend won't touch my tank, she is afraid she will do something like this.

i have a mag float it doesnt get that hard algae off my glass and neither do the turbos :(
srry if i thread jacked i hope the best for ur tank

the mag actually breaks up the coraline decent, its this hard greenish algae i get, its kinda like coraline but harder to get off, its not overrunning my tank but i get consistent growth on the glass that makes it look all hazy, also i have a kent scraper with the yellow metal tip and it does work but only on the sides as the front glass is bowed, its a flat front btw

if it didn't have sponge on it I wouldn't worry. Most aquarium stores carry aquarium safe filter floss pads of sorts for algae. it's probably similar. It's the sponges that carry all the antimicrobial stuff in it.

Everything is fine. I lucked out and my fiance was releived. Here is a picture of my tank to prove it.
I would recommend never using any sponges or cleaning pads that are not specifically made for aquariums.
