Help Needed: Controlling Nitrite/Nitrate During Cupramine Treatment

Does anyone have experience using several pieces of LR with nitrifying bacteria to keep nitrite and nitrate manageable during cupramine treatment?

Seachem says that their Cupramine doesn't kill the nitrifying bacteria but I'm worried if the nitrogen cycle can still continue during the treatment.

I want to treat some fish in copper but I don't want to frequently change water.

I'm not a fan of copper medications in general, but you should be able to use LR without significant impact to the biofilter. Alternatively, you can use a HOB filter with ceramic media (in a media bag) and add Bio-spira to control the ammonia. Nitrite and nitrate are not a concern for marine fish.

Or, you can skip copper and do TTM instead.

I've used cupramine before and it was very hard to control the concentration and to manage the stress. Did you try TTM? How well did it do?

I use TTM on all new acquisitions and have found it to be highly effective in keeping Cryptocaryon out of my DT. I haven't used Cupramine (or any copper product) for well over two years now.

Yea I started to try this too. Cupramine is just too stressful for my achilles. Plus using this method I can actually use Prime and carbon to keep water quality high until the next transfer.

I travel a lot for work which precludes me from doing TTM, so I use either cupramine or CP. Neither seem to kill the biofilter, so I would think you could use some LR, yes. Trouble is that it will then have to be discarded, so I prefer to use a bio media like denitrate, for example.
